Children in ICE Detention Skyrocket in Trump’s Second Term With a six-fold jump in children in detention, advocates allege harrowing conditions are putting kids’ lives at risk.

ICE is detaining 250 children a day. Many are at the Dilley (TX) Immigration Processing Center, run by CoreCivic. Detainees report inadequate medical care, moldy food, and undrinkable water.

How do private companies justify taking on CJ functions? I use ESG reports from CoreCivic to describe 3 rhetorical practices: softening (obscuring use of force), shrinking (deferring to the state), & signaling (aligning w/pro-social values).
