In coming years, the gap between the rich and the poor will increase, causing middle class and poor to fall deeper into debt and poverty.

Aside from generally solving poverty and inequality, UBI recognises that regardless of background, income, or circumstance, every individual deserves opportunity and the basic resources to access dignity, hope, and agency.

most people are living pay cheque to pay cheque under the constant fear of survival, and a single setback can mean ruin. This is counterproductive. We need UBI to free people, enabling them to take risks, pursue education, start businesses, and invest in their communities.

A lot of time, energy and potential is wasted on the struggle to survive rather than on creativity, entrepreneurship, and individual well-being. Achieving true economic and social progress starts by providing basic livelihoods to everyone through UBI and unconditional cash transfers.

Apart from fighting poverty and inequality, unconditional cash transfers provide agency and dignity. Everyone deserves the right to choose when it comes to basics. It's inevitable whole industries and jobs will be shaken up as a result of tech. It's a good thing and an opportunity since it will free up people to pursue more meaningful, creative and impactful work to further enrich our lives. But they don't have to do it hungry and homeless. They will need UBI.

I think you should try trusting people. Let's say a friend wants to make you dinner. Do you think your friend should insist that you do something in exchange? Or do you think your friend should trust that you would want to do something for them in the future, and not necessarily only as payback?

The challenge is we assume to know what people need and often fall short of the real immediate needs, which only the individuals know. With UBI people have autonomy to take care of their basic needs, and pilots have proven it's what they focus on.

In a country like this, we should all be able to move on from the grinding anxiety of securing basic survival. We should have basic survival figured out for everybody by now
