If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

These are the kind of appropriations you make for a war, and it's going to be waged on us.

MNGOP chair is calling on everyone to “not politicize this.” What other fucking lens should we be using? Genuine question for the GOP.

Contact your electeds. Contact international governing or human rights organizations. Contact companies doing business in the U.S. Contact military leaders, judges, heads of media conglomerates.

Ask for, beg for, plead for, demand change.

So what are lower-risk choices than marching/demonstrating?

Make signs for others. Stand by with bail money. Be an emergency contact. Be on hand with a vehicle to get people physically out of whatever. Donate money or supplies to support those on the ground. Write letters to the editor.

It is ok to not want to be on the front lines. It is ok to want to make lower-risk choices. But it's not ok to not participate in changemaking if you oppose fascism.

You are never safe in a fascist country. Never.

In a fascist country, you're always at risk of injury or death, and more so if you are doing anything opposing the regime. Everyone has to decide their own level of comfort when it comes to risk, but you need to understand that nobody is safe in a fascist country, least of all those who want change.

If you live in the U.S., you live in a fascist country. I'm sorry if that's hard to reconcile for you, but I urge you to accept it as quickly as you can if you want to change the regime.
