Studios sometimes have specialties, so my guess is Prime 4 just out of their wheelhouse. It is like when Microsoft forced Arkane to do live service shit. Or it could just be from them being more of support studio and not ready for a big production. Who knows.

TNG might get me if the art is good. That was probably the biggest thing that stopped me from Spider-Verse. Avatar still debating-ish. But even as TNG stan hope there is some DS9, Voy, SNW, and Lower Decks love. Ent, Disc, and Picard I can live without.

I think the problem is they went from bringing new players in to let's just rake it in from crossovers. If they had done it where like you had one or two crossovers a year, and they mechanically tied in to the main sets more, you could possibly see people being drawn into the main game.

I'll probably not end up. Like a couple cards cute, like "Rent is Due", but most of them I wasn't even a huge fan of the art used.

Yeah, I noticed that the Spider-Man booster sets seem more readily available at my local comic stores. I debated, but I don't know if I got the time for that kind of investment now.

It has gotten ridiculous. I feel like a new set is announced every month. And like, the original idea wasn't terrible. I was thinking of getting back into magic with the Spider-Man and Avatar sets. But then I saw how they were being monetized and the pain in getting them that I just noped out.

I guess could be like SteamDeck where they think they can set up an ecosystem in which other hardware companies will sell their own and they can guarantee Steam. But again, it is kind of weird to me, cause pretty much mandatory for any PC gaming system to be able to support Steam, so what is gained?

But from a PC space, you are trying to get people who are fine with a pretty weak machine that will be unobtrusive in the living room? If cheap enough, maybe, but then you might be selling at a loss, and not gaining much cause most of those people probably already bought everything through Steam.

I don't think the base model will be anywhere near $1000 either. The thing is I find the possible goals for Valve just not fitting well with how SteamMachine is currently designed or how Valve currently operates. Currently, it is not really any serious competition for consoles.

I agree it is circular problem, but unless Valve finds a solution, they won't be able to seriously compete against consoles. Cause I doubt these companies going to start removing anti-cheat out of the goodness of their hearts.

I don't get how that is different from what I said. Even if you opened up Steam sales in more countries, I don't think you would get a big bump since they already sell in biggest markets. The only way you will compete with consoles is selling through traditional retailers like Amazon, WalMart, etc.

I didn't have enough post space to write "they can't currently". And I think they would have expanded to retailers already if they had plans too, given popularity of SteamDeck. Plus it still doesn't get around the whole Fortnite/CoD/etc. and kernel-level anti-cheat.

I think you are right on the whole worry about the Machine being priced too low means companies might buy for general use. I think it was not a worry for SteamDeck, cause for Deck you could spend that same amount for a much better desktop. But who knows how much it would cut into sales.

The other big thing is most people are guessing that you won't even be able play the biggest games (Fortnite, CoD, etc.) on SteamMachine cause of kernel-level anti-cheat.

Compete with consoles? I don't think they can with the current way they sell systems only through the Steam store. Just look at the SteamDeck, a machine that is better than Switch in a lot of ways, but is basically doing WiiU numbers.

Looks like DF is a lot more optimistic on the price of the SteamMachine. I guess comes down to if Steam thinks they can compete with consoles (they can't), and if they are willing to take a loss (a worry if a bunch of people buy the machine for research or such).
