It really doesn't matter if it was a hit piece or not because a hater would write a hit piece regardless. The Crockett team made the mistake of giving legitimacy to the hit piece writer--and possible increased her publicity and reach. That was not a good move.

Paramount should enjoy its growing news monopoly while they have it because when Democrats win back power we are going to break up these anti-democratic information conglomerates. All of them.

The issue is discussed as if it is about policy but actually it's about style. There is a desire for an emotional (angry, outraged, moral highground, assertive, etc) tone to replace the more professorial, judicial tone that is traditional (and annoying) from elected Dems.

I think the "debate" is mostly carping from uninformed people who deal in stereotypes and have nothing real to replace the imaginary moderation. For examp, Mamdani's policies are mainstream Dem. He's a charismatic and talented person--great! But hero of new ideas? The ideas are good but not new.

A lot of that comes from Dems or others making public statements calling Dems weak--which THANK GOD fewer are doing now. It's more a matter of perceptions than actions. Dems are fighting in every way a minority can so the way to be SEEN as strong is to ratchet up the rhetoric--which they are.

I think Mamdani is great. I also think it is a good idea to pick smart, charismatic, talented people to run for office on the usual standard Dem issues and ideas--which is what Mamdani is. Except for Gaza, which isn't really a city govt issue, he's mainstream Dem on policy.
