Each state had to write their own articles of succession, which spell out slavery as the reason! As a southerner in a town where the “Lost Cause” narrative is prevalent and the Daughters of the Confederacy are extremely active, conversations about this baffle me!

Read the articles of succession. The cause was slavery- pure and simple. This guy is right. For too long, schools taught that it was states rights, but the articles of succession for each state say something else.
