"There was a kind of cultural show-and-tell at school where we would pick and research a world culture. Being the only non-white kid in class, I picked my own. It was more like a mix of stuff we'd collected from Mexico and Peru, but it was different, and it was my family's history. I was proud!"

An orange-furred sergal named Keis and a short skunk-otter hybrid named Taras are having a movie night. There's a movie on about werewolves and two characters discuss the full moon. Keis tells Taras, "Let me know if you want more." Taras replies, "Smells great, thanks!" He notices there's something red underneath Keis's eyes. He gestures to his cheek. "Uh, you've got a little...it's under your eyes." Keis is confused, but gets it. "Huh? Oh, my blood! Thought I got it all." She rubs her cheek with her hand. "Better?" she asks. "You got it" Taras says, and continues, "Keis, if you're short on cash, you can ask me for help instead of making your own cosmetics." Keis says loudly, "My finances are just fine!" Taras adds, "Lying is a sin."

An orange sergal named Keis is in bed tucked away behind some curtains. Colorful lights are strung from the curtain rod. She's looking at her phone, reading an article about an ancient stone tablet named the Sailor's Plaque, depicting a space probe launched from one planet and slingshotted out of the Solar System. Keis narrates, "Maybe a little bit. It's kinda like getting sick, right? Feverish, but you get the chills, and you pile on the blankets. But it's not really up to you whether or not you feel hot or cold. That battle's going on elsewhere. Sure, you can take something, maybe help yourself a little bit, but you just gotta...wait for that battle to finish, and hope it goes your way."

Keis steps out of a shower, towels herself off, and then stares at her reflection in a mirror. Anonymous asks: If time is an illusion, does that make music more of a manipulation of the concept of time? Keis replies: My recollection of theoretical physics is fuzzier than I am, but know that time is very real. Time is more than we previously thought. It's omnipresent, it's even multi-dimensional. It's not an arrow like so many believed. What does that even mean? Who knows! Time only looks like an arrow from up here in the macroscopic world. What really happens is a singularity somewhere out there warps time so much that no matter what direction you go in time, you end up at the same spot. We can measure that curvature by observing the probability of causality violations at the quantum level. Reality tries to go towards different timelines, but at most it's a quantum jiggle, just barely wetting your quantum fingers in the waterfalls of other universes timelines. Imagine that, huh? So many other adventures, so many other songs... all just the width of a proton away.
