Thanks! Working my way through a few "distractions" on the painting shelf before I go back to more Whigs...
02.06.2025 18:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0One of those inevitable distractions - I fancied painting something different from the 1685 stuff, so here are some British Grenadiers for the American War of Independence- I've had these sat in a box for 12-15 years or so, nice to actually get some paint on them. #painting #miniatures #awi
02.06.2025 18:43 — 👍 21 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0Some more Whig (or possibly any non-uniformed) cavalry for our 1685 project, and my command stand for Monmouth himself! Figured I should actually paint the man himself! #oneking #miniatures #wargaming
02.06.2025 18:40 — 👍 8 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0The wagon train moves out! A few random wagons, for any occasion. Again, these are Wargames Foundry models - we mainly use these for our Monmouth/1685 games, but they could be used for a variety of purposes, objectives or scenarios. #oneking #minatures #wargaming
02.06.2025 18:38 — 👍 20 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 1Thanks! Yes, they're lovely old models. I've got a few more dogs of war and old empire models I need to get painted up in a similar style

28.05.2025 07:16 — 👍 39 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0Given I had a few minutes before heading off to work, I figured the recently announced GW rerelease of wood elves was a good opportunity to take a few quick photos of my old wood elf army. #warhammer #wargaming #miniatures
28.05.2025 07:14 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Oh, lovely! Nicely done, and a very handy bit of terrain to have! (I need to get round to making some emplacements at some point)
27.05.2025 15:58 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Sorry about that, important dispatches from the front, clearly!
Looking good!
As ever, apparently on review there were quite a few spelling and grammatical mistakes in the heat of battle! Hopefully it all makes sense!
25.05.2025 20:18 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0They're actually rather minor, but hopefully provide a bit of flavour. The only other change not on here is that we changed to turn order - initiative, shooting, orders, combat.
We may change a few things going forward once we've had a few more games!
Thanks!
25.05.2025 19:51 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Thanks to my opponent @kahteh.bsky.social for a lively evening. I didn't expect things to disintegrate quite so quickly for Feversham's forces, but the Whigs got a lot of lucky disorders in the last few turns, meaning the fighting withdraw became a rout.
25.05.2025 19:20 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0Monmouth graciously takes the Foot Guards' surrender. Today has been a great success for the Whigs. The road to London lies open, and the Government field army lies shattered. Will James II be replaced, by (slightly confusingly) another James II? Only time will tell...
25.05.2025 19:17 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0While a few Government regiments have managed to withdraw, the army is severely depleted, and withdraws, covered by the 1st Foot Guards...
25.05.2025 19:14 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Kirke's Regiment manage to withdraw to the hill, and the Government forces leave the battlefield...
25.05.2025 19:12 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Further disaster! The Royal Scots break under volleys of musket fire from the Yellow Regiment!
25.05.2025 19:02 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Churchill manages to withdraw the dragoons, and, re-mounted, they cover the artillery so it can retreat. But what about the foot?
25.05.2025 18:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Volleys from the Whig line disorder the retreating Government forces - will they be able to get away at all, or has it all gone rather pear shaped?
25.05.2025 18:53 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0A volley from the Green Regiment disintegrates the disordered Blues, and they flee the field!
25.05.2025 18:47 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Given there has been little damage to the Whig line, Feversham decides it is best to withdraw his army while it still has some strength. It is pointless to press the attack today, against such strong opposition. The Government artillery start to limber up with the wagon train
25.05.2025 18:45 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0To add further injury to the Government forces, the Grenadiers finally break and are run down. Kirke's brigade is now broken, having lost 2/3s of its strength.
25.05.2025 18:35 — 👍 4 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0... (with picture! - it's all happening and I'm clearly to excited to report accurately!)
25.05.2025 18:29 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Meanwhile, Trelawany's break as a burst of grapeshot smashes out if the hedgerow into them!
25.05.2025 18:28 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The Green Regiment turns about face, and delivers a volley into the Blues, disordering them
25.05.2025 18:28 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The battle hangs in the balance. A few until have broken on both sides, and the armies are fully committed, both with a single thin line and no reserves left...
25.05.2025 18:17 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The Blues smash into the light cannon, and despite taking a blast of grapeshot quickly rout the gun crew. A cavalry trooper falls to an errant sponge in the melee, leaving the victorious unit somewhat battered
25.05.2025 18:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Despite the odds, and a number of men falling, the Grenadiers hold their ground against the press of Whig horse...
