They're laying off around 15% of employees due to "relocating resources" to AI products. This is the latest in their pro Gen AI stance as they use Gen AI for ads, chatbots, and their own text to image generation.

I just want to be sure, because I am a very anti-genAI creator, that this game has no genAI assets correct? I know that Sizzle and Stack had hand-drawn art so I don't suspect this one does, but I had a few friends who saw it that were unsure themselves.

RagingEnby replies, "Using generative ai at all is a huge slap in the face to all artists, particularly the ones employed by you."
Simon's final response to this is, "I still hire artists and plan to do so forever, my actions matters more than posting a random trending twitter meme made in 5 seconds. In this case the meme was to actually use AI. Pick your battles is my recommendation, otherwise you will lose all the support from people like me that are big defenders of artists."
Hytale dev + founder Simon Hypixel uses gen-ai for meme's and research he stated on his twitter. Calling those 'The sensitive crowd.' As of this moment, there's no confirmed gen-ai in Hytale. Support + money towards Hytale is support for Simon. -y
