3 mice figurines: a mouse in a green sweater and backpack, clutching a sketchbook; a mouse in a pink coat and gray dress, holding greenery; and a mouse in a blue sweater and bowler hat, with a camera around his neck. Clearly, they are ready for fossil-hunting adventure.

These little guys definitely need a guide to Dorset fossils

The article was published in The Advocate, the magazine of LGBTQ news, so mentioning the gender and orientation of the governor is definitely appropriate; it’s information their readers want to know.

Things that are gained with age:
- wisdom
- decreasing vanity
- increasing ennui
- invisibility from young adults
- mossy exterior
- talons for rending
- the desire to retire to a crumbling castle on the coast, and live with chatty ghosts

1.5 hours, and I’m down to 10. πŸ™„
Email is always just a list of chores and tasks half-done, honestly. And they generate MORE tasks.

Also, my external hard drive started CLICKING, which means I’d better make sure the 2nd ext. hard drive has all its info before the 1st one breaks entirely…

Yup. If your body can’t do the activity anymore, how do you persuade your brain to stop yearning for it? *sigh*

That costs a pang. I used to pack 2 changes of clothes, a bag of vitamins, a couple books, maps, a compass, camera, poncho, sandals, MP3 player, binocs. I could walk for miles with a backpack.

I miss being the kind of person who can do that.

Decluttering the clothes closet:
Okay, jackets are my weakness. But I use corduroy jackets as bathrobes, as well as wearing them outdoors.

But I did find a coat I don’t wear more’n once a year. Pretty, but uncomfortable. Gotta let go.

The backpack too. Since 2018, my back can’t handle the weight.

*btw, luggage tags are useful for other things:

If you leave in a building with shared laundry, hang one on your laundry basket;

You can tag your office chair, if your office has large meetings when furniture gets moved;

Basically, in any shared space, they’re useful.

Went through my travel supplies, hoping to consolidate 2 boxes to one.

Nope. After years of travel, it’s pretty streamlined:
Travel washcloths
First-aid kit
Mini flashlights
Eye mask
Swiss Army knife
Playing cards
Voltage power converter
Wallet for UK currency (larger than US)
Poncho
Luggage tags*

Oh, they’re adorable! It looks like your mom had fun, collecting them.

I’ll send you a DM, to talk about details.

This summer, I bought a pair of clogs to wear at home and a pair to wear at the office, and just having that much arch support during ordinary days ensures that I don’t have to waste so much time trying to find comfortable shoes for other times.

Do I really have THAT much stuff?

Books, sure. I recognize that 10 bookcases is not the norm. (I could use another 3, to be honest.)

Craft supplies, clothes, shoes, cleaning stuff: I think I have a reasonably small amount.

Okay, maybe not the shoes. I walk a lot. My feet hurt.

Juvenile Heermann's gull (very dark all over) in flight, flying over very very shallow water. Flying to the right maybe two feet off the ground. It's shadow is to the right. Just below the shadow is a reflection on the sheen of water.

Got this really cool, ghostly picture by accident the other day in Dillon Beach, CA. It is a Heermann's gull with both it's shadow and reflection.

No, you did not give those of us who happened to look like the people who bombed Pearl Harbor any due process. And that was profoundly wrong. It destroyed our lives.
