Iowa Republicans have nominated Lucas Loftin, a self-described defender of “faith, family, and freedom,” to fill the Iowa Senate seat left vacant by the late Sen. Claire Celsi.

Loftin’s extreme far-right agenda is not what voters in Senate District 16 have historically elected.
