The Universal Optimism of the Self-Evidencing Mind
Karl Fristonโs free-energy principle casts agents as self-evidencing through active inference. This implies that decision-making, planning and information-seeking are, in a generic sense, โwishfulโ. W...
That literature has a notion of universal optimism, basically the belief that observations will tend to conform to expectations. This may be reflected in the optimism bias we discuss here - not sure about other biases! We discuss this more in www.mdpi.com/1099-4300/26...

Thanks - really appreciate your thoughts! Pezzulo et co allude to the core distinction between perceptual and active inference (which are governed by balancing accuracy/complexity, and risk/ambiguity), where active inference is akin to self-fulfilling prophesying.
