This afternoon’s return flight didn’t have a plane with such a history. But still a perfectly lovely 777.

Could have done without the snow on our return though.

But I guess that's a big piece of this project. I'm being (re)introduced to some albums by artists I appreciate. Some of those are previously hidden (to me) gems. Others are likely to be one-off listens. Or maybe I'll come back to this in a few years, and it'll speak to me differently then.

Mother of Violence is very pretty I think. And Home Sweet Home is a nice way to end the record.

White Shadow, Exposure, and Perspective are fine.

But as a whole, there's nothing here that I think will be bringing me back.

Like his first solo release, the second album from #PeterGabriel is also titled Peter Gabriel, but is colloquially known as "Scratch". And like the debut release from Rush, this week is the first time I've ever heard this album. And honestly, I don't feel that I've been missing much.

My wife and I are generally much more city or small town vacation people; Tokyo, Norway, Scotland, as opposed to beach vacation people. But when a friend turns 50 and wants to go to Cancun for a few days, who are we to say no?

I first read that as White Castle prices have dropped, and was very confused.

I was not much less confused when I reread it correctly.

I wa icky enough to board pretty early, and the pilot was just getting on top, while the FO was doing the walk around. So it was pretty quiet at the time, which helped.

The plane for this morning’s flight is very special! N777UA, the first 777 delivered and used in revenue service by an airline. So yes, of course I asked if I could take a picture of the flight deck. And the pilot generously offered to take a picture of me sitting in it.

In the 80s the faintest whiff of an inferred link to listening to Judas Priest or playing D&D and a young person’s suicide could set off a national panic, investigations, and headlines. But actual transcripts of a product encouraging suicides, plural, won’t get a tiny fraction of the tumult.

Very quick build here; only about 20 minutes. But the last couple pieces of the cladding were added, as well as a couple more technic bricks to hold to the sections together. And it got a couple of the little stands it’ll sit on.

This completes the first of three inner boxes.

Politics used to be boring, and it was glorious.

Unfortunately, it meant a lot of people thought politics was boring, and stopped caring. So here we are.

I want boring again. I want to not have to think about government every damn day.

The front half and the tail go so well together!

The back half is okay, but maybe too much for that big a plane. And it just doesn’t go with the rest. An interesting idea, that maybe should have stayed an idea.

I do like that old school look of the Saudia livery there. At least the front half. Harder to see the back half, but definitely not old school.

Nothing on here is going to make me come back to it over and over again. But there's also not a single skip-track on here. It's a solid record, and one that I should listen to more often than I do.

Raise My Rent has me anticipating Geddy Lee's vocal coming in to welcome me to The Twilight Zone (from Rush's 2112). And then it goes into a guitar solo that Gilmour will use again in the future.

The rest of the album is ... good. Lots of what you expect from David.

The eponymous "David Gilmour" is the first solo release from the #PinkFloyd guitarist.

To me, it sounds like an artist trying to do very different things than he's been doing with the band. There's little resemblance to the Floyd of the era here.

Pretty quick build tonight, filling in the side panels. In addition to making it look more complete, they also add a little more structure linking these two sections together.

Apparently fourth down too.

Why are they so bad defending on third and long?

Sure, some of it the pure skill on the other side.

But even against lesser teams than this; they seem to get beat on third and long pretty often.

I liked going for it on that 4th down. Keep the pedal down!

But I fear that failing will prove to have been pivotal.

Well that kind of sucks.

I went with an hour+ on the indoor trainer. Not at all what I wanted, but better than nothing. I need to start being better about getting on the trainer after work. 😐
