We like Milwaukee a lot; great small city, and so close to Chicago. Really need to take more advantage.

The donut game hasn’t been strong at the rest stops we made on this trip (great other things though); 0 fritters, which is a travesty. Still need to get over to Somethin’ Sweet.

I left a bike outside all winter one year in college. Come spring, the chain was a solid loop. I looked around my room and thought, butter? Butter might work.

I’m not saying it was a good idea, or that it lasted long. But I was able to ride it again.

Daily Baking in Port Washington was a strong stop too.

Ozaukee Interurban trail was great! But know there are a LOT of street crossings, especially around Grafton and Cedarburg (but all throughout); still worth it though.

And the Oak Leaf Trail through Milwaukee was fantastic.

Found a great bicycle themed coffee shop and bakery in Sheboygan. Shout out to Paradigm Coffee and Music!

A second flat, some less than great gravel, a less than ideal gas station chicken, bacon, ranch wrap all slowed us down a bit. But we made our first stop. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

LOVE the West Wing! Some of it hasn’t aged well (I blame WWWeekly podcast for pointing out some flaws). Still one of my absolute favorites though.

The Americans is what I recommend to anyone looking for a series to watch. The finale is one of the best ever, up with (better than?) Breaking Bad’s.

I love the Thorn Creek area. I wish I loved Old Plank. It’s convenient for getting to / from Joliet. But it’s not in the best shape, and there are too many busy street crossings for my taste.

I told Eric a while back that I need to starting taking the Adventure Time page from his book, and start taking Metra out of the city. Tired of always doing the same routes over and over again.

I had never even thought about an app. I haven’t ridden Amtrak since long before that was a thing, and it never crossed my mind. Maybe I should look into that too.

I was on a PC (Chrome) and it was just freezing / erroring out when I tried to add the reservation to my cart. It eventually let me get past that.

Now 2 of us just need to convince our 3rd that this is a great idea.

Eventually, their site let me get through the booking funnel, and I can see that I’m able to add a bike to the ticket. Excellent!

Seeing mixed information out there, so thought I’d ask here.

Does anyone know for sure if Amtrak offers their roll-on bike service for the Hiawatha between Milwaukee and Chicago? Some places say yes, but Hiawatha isn’t listed on Amtrak’s site.

Starting S2, Ep 2.

One of the things I love about this album is that bookend effect of Shine On. It eases out in a similar way to how it eases in. And inbetween, you're taken on a journey.

It's not just a collection of songs; it's an <album>, start to finish.

And by all accounts, he was not at all aware that the track they were mixing that day was, maybe not about him, but certainly inspired by him, and the mental illness that had impacted him so deeply.

Syd passed 30 years later, but for all intents that was the last time anyone in the band saw him.

Wish You Were Here is probably the most well known track, as it's a staple on classic rock radio. Gilmour and Waters have each mentioned it being about Syd. But they've also each said it's not directly about Syd, but can be interpreted that way. Regardless, it's an amazing song.

A wide white border serves as the matting for a photograph. Between a row of buildings, that appear to be sound stages on a film lot, are two men shaking hands. Then man on the right has some flames coming from his head, arm, and leg. The white matting behind him shows a burn spot in a small space, as if the fire has singed the photo's matting.

About two and a half years after Dark Side, #PinkFloyd came back with "Wish You Were Here".

How much of this album is actually directly related to former member Syd Barrett is debatable. But he's definitely part of the lore of the record.

He would want me to say he lost it in a street fight with a coyote or something similarly dramatic. But it was just simple uveitis that couldn’t be reversed.

Multiple things can be true at the same time. I can post my boring thoughts about a different album every Monday, be frustrated by this guy’s antics, and be angry / hurt / demoralized / scared about the state of the world.

There still needs to be room for joy, love, and fun.

The bumper sticker’s amazing! So many times, the car behind me has had to beep after a light goes green, while I’m staring at a plane on approach into ORD.

Getting to a couple Tour stages is definitely a lifetime bucket list item. Have fun!!
