My most woke opinion is that "woke" at root is a beautiful concept: active socio-political consciousness in the context of the Black American liberation struggle. And the way it's been turned into a sneering pejorative is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in Western political discourse.

The Labour government has both a moral and legal obligation to immediately suspend all arms exports to the UAE where there is a clear risk that British weapons may be used to commit or facilitate war crimes and crimes against humanity. Instead of enabling further violence, the UK should use its diplomatic influence to support peace. It must press all parties to agree to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and to engage in a credible political process that lays the groundwork for lasting stability and justice in Sudan.
