A children's hospital is renamed for Dolly Parton and hopes to transform pediatric care in Tennessee Dolly Parton’s name might inspire full-throated sing-a-longs to her working woman’s anthem “9 to 5,” or evoke memories of thrilling days spent at her Dollywood theme park.

“Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital did not share how much Parton donated as part of the naming announcement. But Matt Schaefer, its president and CEO, said her support would ensure ‘every child who walks through our doors receives the treatment they deserve.’”

GOD BLESS DOLLY PARTON

As a journalist it's hard to find the bright red line between healthy/virtuous screen time and soul-sucking ungodly doomscrolling. After 20 years of having to be very online, I can only say I now can recognize the latter, though it doesn't always stop me.

This might be obvious, but it's helped me to remember that the point of terrorism is... to inspire terror. This is what they're doing. They want you to give up. They want you to be depressed.

The best way to fight this is to stand up for each other and find joy in spite of it all.

Good theory, though it's hard to imagine the returns diminishing further than they already have.

Probe of NY correction officers' pension scheme snares first arrest A years-long investigation into allegations that former state correction officers have been hired by local municipalities to increase their pensions snares first arrest in Dannemora village.

The arrest of the former mayor of Dannemora is the first fruit of a years-long probe into allegations that corrections officers and municipal officials engaged in fraud when the officers did brief chores on municipal payrolls that resulted in higher pension payouts. Brendan Lyons reports.

A true side note: Prince cared deeply about food insecurity, and would routinely make substantial donations to local food banks and community kitchens in every town that he would play in during his later tours. Sometimes they would ask for supplies & his team would show up with huge amounts of food.
