We really need to electrify fully our economy don’t we? There are lots of reasons to ditch fossil fuels except as emergency backup-ups

I timed that switch to Agile last Friday really badly

The main reason UK energy prices are so high is not net zero but the fact the price of gas still sets the price of electricity. Breaking that link should be the priority.

If Reform had won Starmer would be on his knees to those voters begging for forgiveness. Greens win and it's like "Fuck off cranks"

I am reminded today of two things. First, the late great Charles Kennedy's leadership of the Lib Dems during the Blair years. In many respects, the Greens are now pursuing a similar strategy, albeit more radical: challenging Labour from the left. Gaza is the new Iraq War.

Quite an achievement for the PM to piss off everybody from those right leaning who will give Labour a chance, to centre left, to soft left to harder left and still expect people to vote Labour.

Time for Starmer to be bold, but of course he won’t be.

‘BBC News: Reform may have finished a distant second to the Greens, but this will feel like a win for Nigel Farage’s party’

How far back in time can you understand English? An experiment in language change

This is super interesting.

The last one I can read fluently is 1600.

I can then still read it and figure out (almost) every word, with some puzzling, but then lose it almost completely at 1200.

3.37p per kWh will really help those of us with heat pumps.

Why there's no quick fix in sight for the problem of dazzling headlights Road users say headlight glare is an issue - but experts warn a solution might not be straightforward.

Not mentioned in this article, but where possible LED headlights that are capable of having matrix capabilities should have it as standard. In my car it is a £750 software upgrade but should be a safety feature to protect other drivers www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Sad to see Jesse Jackson has died. When I was at Berkeley in 95/96 he spoke at an affirmative action rally on campus and was really inspirational. A giant figure of our time.

Hi Faisal. I live and work in Manchester and it is leading and ahead, but I also feel the buzz in Liverpool and Leeds too. With the right investment, those three could be a real economic powerhouse. Do you see that in the data?
