Again, Russia is willfully targeting civilian targets like Ukrainian energy and railway infrastructure. Russia will continue its illegal aggression unless it is forced to stop. 1/2

In #Kuwait for the EU-GCC Ministerial Council starting tomorrow. An important topic will be President Trump’s peace plan that could finally end the war in Gaza, alongside cooperation on energy, regional security, and humanitarian aid. 1/2

Het versterken van de relatie met de GCC is van groot belang voor onze gezamenlijke veiligheid, welvaart en rol in de wereld. Vanavond neem ik deel aan een High-Level Forum met collega’s om te spreken over regionale ontwikkelingen, waaronder Iran en de Rode Zee. 2/2

In #Koeweit voor de EU-GCC ministeriële raad die morgen start. Een belangrijk onderwerp is het vredesplan van president Trump dat eindelijk een einde zou kunnen maken aan de oorlog in Gaza, naast samenwerking op energie, regionale veiligheid en humanitaire hulp. 1/2

De Nederlandse opvarenden van de Global Sumud Flotilla moeten zsm veilig terug naar Nederland kunnen reizen, Buitenlandse Zaken blijft zich hier voor inzetten. Ik heb mijn Israëlische collega gevraagd snel vertrek te faciliteren. Ondertussen houden we contact met de Nederlanders en hun families.

Cautiously optimistic that Hamas appears willing to release the hostages and engage in direct negotiations on President Trump’s peace plan. This plan must succeed to end the catastrophic situation in Gaza and to achieve a lasting solution. The Netherlands remains committed to this.

Voorzichtig positief dat Hamas bereid lijkt tot vrijlating van de gijzelaars en directe onderhandelingen over het vredesplan van president Trump. Dit plan moet slagen om de catastrofale situatie in Gaza te stoppen en tot een duurzame oplossing te komen. Nederland blijft zich hiervoor inzetten.

Nederland veroordeelt met klem de recente aanval op het Nederlandse vrachtschip Minervagracht die nu door de Houthi’s is opgeëist.

This remains crucial for securing the release of the hostages, dramatically boosting the amount of humanitarian aid & achieving a lasting peace in the Middle East.

We welcome President Trump’s efforts to bring about a peace plan that could end the conflict. It is significant that Israel has accepted this plan. The Netherlands has repeatedly called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, one that would be supported by both parties. 1/2

Dit blijft cruciaal voor het vrijlaten van de gegijzelden, drastische toename van humanitaire hulp en duurzame vrede in het Midden-Oosten.

We kijken uit naar de details van het plan. Nederland blijft zich inspannen voor een einde aan de oorlog in de Gazastrook. 2/2

Verwelkomen de inspanningen van president Trump voor een vredesplan dat een einde kan maken aan het conflict. Belangrijk dat Israel dit plan heeft aanvaard. Nederland roept al langer op tot een staakt-het-vuren in de Gazastrook, gedragen door beide partijen. 1/2

Bescherming en bevordering van mensenrechten zijn prioriteit in ons buitenlandbeleid. Goed om daarom met vertegenwoordigers van het Breed Mensenrechtenoverleg te spreken, o.a. over hoe mensenrechten wereldwijd toenemend onder druk staan. Een onmisbare dialoog voor het werk van BZ.

Vandaag ontving ik ICC president Tomoko Akane en haar team. Hun werk bij het ICC is cruciaal voor gerechtigheid en verantwoording. Het functioneren van het Hof is een zaak van alle 125 Statenpartijen. Als gastland heeft Nederland daarbij een eigen verantwoordelijkheid.

Today I welcomed ICC President Tomoko Akane and her team. Their work at the ICC is crucial for justice and accountability. The Court’s functioning is a matter for all 125 States Parties. As host country, the Netherlands has a responsibility to facilitate it.

Russia still does not want peace, so the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine together with its partners and increase the pressure on Russia. 2/2

Once again, there have been massive Russian air strikes on Kyiv and other regions. Once again, people have been killed and injured by Russian terror, and this comes shortly after repeated appeals at the #UNGA80 to bring this war to an end. 1/2

Opnieuw massale Russische luchtaanvallen op Kyiv en andere regio’s. Opnieuw doden en gewonden door Russische terreur, en dit vlak na talloze oproepen tijdens de AVVN tot het stoppen van deze oorlog. 1/2

Good to speak with my colleague from Costa Rica Arnoldo André 🇨🇷. Pleased to sign an MoU on establishing a mechanism for political consultations. This further strengthens the excellent relations between our nations, with exchanges of views on matters of common interest.

Türkiye is a key partner for the Netherlands and the EU, and an important NATO Ally. On this last day of #UNGA80, I had the pleasure of speaking with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. We exchanged views on Ukraine and Gaza. Looking forward to visiting Ankara soon.

During #UNGA80 I also joined an international conference on repatriation and reintegration from al-Hol, Syria to Iraq and reiterated the Netherlands support to Iraq in this process. 2/2

Pleased to speak with my Iraqi colleague FM Fuad Hussein. Iraq is an important partner for the Netherlands in the region. We exchanged views on our cooperation on migration and security. 1/2

The Netherlands continues to support with humanitarian aid, accountability efforts and the dignified return of Syrian refugees. 2/2

Good exchange today with Syrian FM Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani. Underlined NL’s support for the Syrian people, importance of stability in the region and that all Syrians, without distinction, must be included and protected in the transition to a new Syria. 1/2

In Sudan, 30 million people need aid amid a devastating war. Aid workers, especially the local volunteers of the Emergency Response Rooms, risk everything to reach them. At #UNGA80, I stressed that those targeting civilians and humanitarian workers must be held accountable.
