A lot of people think "amateur art" is a sign of a childish or lesser work, but I think there's a sincerity and "homemade" quality to homemade art online that more people should be trying to capture! It'd make me happy to see more works like Sparkle On Raven! and Gigabots in this world.

Like I literally mean I foresee "big-ish" studios like-- God I don't even know if I know one that hasn't been shuttered already, but like, Treyarch? Treyarch just being like "hey guys we wanna make a non call of duty game, ubisoft let us run a kickstarter" and then that becoming industry standard

This morning I was thinking "You know why don't more big scale companies just straight up use Kickstarter at this point and skip the investor funding part entirely?" and then realized how depressing of a future that would be. And yet how likely it seems.

I will not mince words: Segagaga is a deeply personal, human game about passionate developers making the best of a bad situation. This is not the first patch to employ MTPE as a shortcut, but it is particularly tone deaf to deploy in this climate for a game about the people who made Sega what it is.

Hate to repost this so much but dates are creeping up and I'm urgently needing the money, any help would go a long way, reposts included.

I'll have to rewatch this a few times. Very strong movie, heavy on symbolism. Gives me french cinema vibes, but also Suda51 Visual Novels like Moonlight Syndrome from what I know.

Really spectacular movie, frankly. It'll linger with me for a bit for sure.

Always pissed me off how Shikata Akiko's Umineko songs had ominous chanting in italian (pretty cool italian!) that actually had meanings and then every Umineko opening Not By Her just has RAH SEH FOH VISHRA gibberish.

It's the one of a kind, sickeningly charming, or as some would say "soulful" videogame that carries a burning amount of passion that can't be described as anything other than magical. It's a game that the studio self-destructed financially to make. It's art. It has a cool robot and Akira Kamiya.

It's an extremely cool JP-only shmup from the PS1 that's framed like a licensed game for a nonexistent 70s anime. Each level starts with an opening, animated cutscenes, commercial breaks with fake in-universe ads, and an ED. There's route splits and so much animation it took four discs.

HEROES. Those who uphold justice have always inspired us. They face every hardship without so much as a flinch, crushing adversity beneath their unwavering resolve. We look up to our heroes with respect and reverence, their smiles carry the pride of being "braver than anyone else." But in the world of [Exoskull Zero], no starry-eyed gazes remain for the heroes. Perhaps, for the first time, they've come to realize: "It was we who were being protected. Without the support of the fangless, we wouldn't even be able to stand." -YAMAGUCHI TAKAYUKI.

It's an extremely personal, somewhat meta and EXTREMELY cool story. At the end of each volume Yamaguchi includes little forewords with his thoughts and it really does feel like you're going on an introspective journey alongside him.

"Exoskull Zero" is the succesor to Apocalypse Zero, written in 2005! You can think of it as "the heisei reboot" to AZ, even though both were made during Heisei period.

At this point in his life, Yamaguchi had fallen into a depression, and started this to "regain his faith in heroes."

The powerful outcast of justice and grim reaper Exoskull Zero stands in the middle of a burning inferno, his black shining armor reflecting the fire around him while his scarf floats dramatically up into the air as his surroundings burn up.

A young man wearing a military uniform and a cloak, with a serious expression and eyes hidden behind fogged-up glasses holds a sheathed sword and looks down at the ground contemplatively, and says: "I cannot make my final journey to that peaceful place. Not until I meet my disgraceful end, devoid of contentment." This is the testament of being a human.

An armored Exoskull Warrior, one of the legendary chosen ones whose fate and duty is to carry the flame of humanity and protect mankind stares directly at the reader while holding said flame, and reminds them: "You need to protect the flame. The flame of humanity."

A series of chaotic panels showing Exoskull Zero engaging a large hulking man known as Douchi Ren, trying to lift him off the ground, but struggling despite his huge size. Narration explains: "Douchi Ren can bench press a full ton, and yet... He's unable to life Zero, who weighs less than 300 kilograms. The souls of thousands of warriors dwelling within the armor... have made Zero's weight immeasurable."

Toku oomfs please do NOT sleep on the manga "Exoskull Zero" by Takayuki Yamaguchi. It's currently being scanlated and is nearly complete, and it's a fucking MASTERPIECE.

I went through my shit when I was like. 11. 12. super formative years. FOREVER irrepairably changed me. Shaped me as a creative and made me the human being I am today. Was also fucking nuts and gave me trauma I could make 50 video essays about. Also had OC war crimes comitted nonconsensually.

Oh trust me I have my own fucked up experience with collaborative storytelling that like. I wouldn't say was necessarily all positive but it was insane in a way that has left me feeling like i'm chasing that same high LOL, but like I know how chaotic these things can be

But as someone who loves game design, unfiction and collaborative storytelling I think about it as this little perfect gem that had it all for a moment, lol. I want to one day see someone carry that flame!!

I think about blaseball so so much as this thing that I mostly missed out on. It was such a beautiful little internet moment. Closest thing since was the horse race tests thing in twitter for a bit but that died due to twitter becoming twitter and the creator not having love in their heart
