If anything in many ways webcomics as a medium regressed due to Flash dying and then webcomics congregating on platforms like Webtoons and Tapas that have standardized formats. These days feels like the age of beasts though; maybe it's just blind optimism but I believe that wild era is near.

When Homestuck was new I didn't super vibe with it but I was still wildly in awe of it. My thought was "Well, even if I don't exactly like everything, this is the start of a new era. This isn't just comics on a webpage, it's truly digital storytelling! The future!"
