29.11.2024 15:48 β π 38 π 3 π¬ 15 π 0It's funny how people underestimate the price of computers in the late 70s to early 90s because they've become so cheap today.
For example a 48K Apple II with two disk drives, a monitor and a few knick-knacks was around $3,000 in 1978; which is close to $15,000 today.

From a glass negative from my collection. With a lot of the photos in my collection I love them not so much for the specific composition but simply the wonderful fact that someone loved this little cat enough to create this negative - a significant task - and then carefully store it for decades. β€οΈ

For me, life is much better without it. I didn't realize how much the constant anger and drama were affecting me until I was free of it. Thank you @bsky.app for this lovely place to restart. βΊοΈ

11.11.2024 20:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 04 panel comic: P1: Begins with a caption box. "There's a scene in Twin Peaks - The Return where David Lynch --as Gordon Cole-- utters the words: Beneath, is a caricatured drawing of Gordon Cole saying "FIX THEIR HEARTS, OR DIE" P2: Another caption. "Those words have been going through my head on repeat today" Beneath, a silhouette of my head forms in negative space formed in a pink-red background. Within the head are multiples of the phrase spoken by Cole. P3: A massive "FIX THEIR HEARTS OR DIE" dominates the panel, formed, again, in the negative space. P4: Sandwiched between two caption boxes --one top, one bottom-- is the image of a man yelling with unbridled rage. The top caption reads "so many people need to hear those words with their whole person--" The bottom finishes with "--however, maybe those people are already lost to us"

04.11.2024 20:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's not hard writing action scenes or dialogue or confessions of love. What's truly hard is writing about someone drawing the blinds (WHAT EVEN ARE THE LITTLE STRINGS YOU PULL CALLED??) or describing mundane movements that you do a thousand times but never ever put into words.

03.11.2024 20:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My old man moment is seeing people on a gaming forum complaining about games having a 60fps cap.
Having grown up during the early days of 3D gaming, a steady 60fps is a dream for me.
PS5 was released four whole years ago now, where the hell is the cost reduced, streamlined, small-footprint version of that?

Handy, though, as it lets me know who I don't want reading my comics any more.

Just heard that Gary Indiana died. His 2003 novel Do Everything in the Dark is scabrous (in all that wordβs senses), biting, funny, & moving.
Itβs one of the best novels of this century. When it was remaindered I bought a handful of copies so I could send guests home with them if we talked books.
