Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

Hey Megyn Kelly,

14-year-old Eloise would like a word:

β€œIf my voice makes you uncomfortable, good…
because the minute adults start defending predators by defending the age of a child, you’re not protecting the truth, you’re protecting the predator.”

Sound up! πŸ”₯πŸ”Š

Experts Say Blue States Can Stop Paying Federal Taxes. There’s Precedent If we could use nullification for people to get high, why can’t we use it to protect human rights and stop fascism?

Soft secession

Legislation creates a Federal Tax Escrow Account in the state treasury. Instead of employers forwarding collected federal taxes to Washington, they send them to the state. The state holds the money in escrow. A legislative panel reviews federal spending for constitutional compliance.

Still angry beyond words.

These eight spineless skunks should never work in government again. They disgrace themselves, their states, their party and their country.

See my pinned post for a more robust analysis of how little *conceivable* justification there could ever be for what they did.

Some of you folks, bless your hearts, are being way too lenient on Mr. Schumer. I get that some of you don't like attacking Democrats. I sympathize. I don't like doing it, either. But this is twice this year that Mr. Schumer has dropped the ball in a position of critical importance. No excuses.

Imagine if the Captain of the Titanic saw the iceberg from a mile away but was too afraid to change course.

Inconceivable, right?

Well, let me tell you about a guy by the name of Chuck Schumer…

I was raised here in this living hell

Fairly soon the time will tell

You

Telling me the things you're gonna do for me

I ain't blind and I don't like what I think I see

This administration made the decision that keeping immigration enforcement fully staffed was more important than keeping air traffic control staffed. That was a DECISION. Everyone needs to know that.

Cue the rebellion The Democratic base is enraged at their party's capitulation β€” and that's a good thing.

"It may not be much comfort for those bitter about what they see as a needless surrender. But there’s at least a chance that we’ll look back at this moment as a key turning point, one that produced a Democratic Party less willing to live on its knees." β€” @paulwaldman.bsky.social

Spending Bill Would Pave Way for Senators to Sue Over Phone Searches

Yet another reason the Dems shouldn’t have caved - as if we needed any more. It lets the GOP attach all kinds of bullshit like this to the spending bills, because now they know the Dems won’t hold out as a caucus for *anything*.

After everything, Senate Democrats still haven’t figured out that surrendering to Trump Republicans will end badly? Unbelievable.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Seven million people came out on No Kings Day, the largest single-day protest in U.S. history, and then followed it up with sweeping every major race on Nov. 4. We did our job in the streets and at the polls. It’d be nice if Democrats in the Senate could get on board.

republicans get: government reopens and party avoids political consequences for refusing to make health care affordable

democrats get: seven beans, an old case logic CD wallet (empty), a coupon for 15% off Busch Gardens, one spiced pumpkin scented candle, a 6-pack of Zima

I've looked at all the details of this deal to end the shutdown reached by a small group of Senate Democrats. I've talked to a number of friends on the Hill to see if there's anything I'm missing. Sadly, I am not.

This is a shit deal. It's a betrayal. It's cowardice.
