Sorry for the delay. Iβm not often on this platform. The answer is that state law requires us to do this (warn drivers with signs and give a grace period with warning tickets). Our hands are tied in this regard. Further questions feel free to email me at district8(at)pittsburghpa.gov

Pitt, CMU face 'significant uncertainty' as NIH slashes funding for indirect research costs
Statements from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University suggest internal worries about the impact of slashed federal funding for research overhead costs.
Cuts to NIH funding don't just threaten life-saving research, they also threaten opportunities for students and Pittsburghβs economy. We must protect the investments that drive innovation and keep our City at the forefront of discovery.

Weβve made meaningful progress through the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and there is still more work to be done. Pittsburgh will continue to lead on climate action, no matter what happens in Washington.

@actonclimateus.bsky.social, elected officials, and fellow Pittsburghers who refuse to let our progress on clean energy, a sustainable climate, and good jobs be erased. Trumpβs attacks on climate policy put our future at riskβbut weβre not backing down.

Three Survivors Remember Auschwitz, 80 Years Later
Today, on this #HolocaustRemembranceDay, we honor the memory of the six million Jews and the millions of others who were murdered during the Holocaust. Itβs a solemn reminder to stand against hate and intolerance everywhere. May we never forget.

Pittsburgh City Council passes 2025 budget, amid doubts about staffing costs
Pittsburgh City Council is poised to pass a $845 million budget for 2025, despite ongoing concerns that some of its numbers β in particular, its projections for police overtime β are unrealistic.
I'm pleased that my colleagues and I were able to work alongside the Gainey Administration to pass a balanced budget for 2025. We'll continue to keep a close eye on overtime pay and explore new strategies to make sure our Public Safety departments are adequately staffed.
