Update: So I did see TRAIN DREAMS. Definitely not the best film of the year. It had some nice moments, but the fantasy floral deathbed looked so like an overdone Kardashian dinner table it ruined it for me.

Great programme. Despite the revisiting and recognition of Wanda over the last 10 years or so Barbara Loden remains an enigmatic figure. What I know of her comes mostly from interviews on YT and old newspaper profiles around the release of Wanda describing her as Elia Kazan’s wife and not much else.

Such a good film. I loved the family’s, for the most part, ease with her and her camera, as she’s been filming them since she was a child. The formation of a filmmaker unfolding on screen. It’s brilliant.
