Four quail eggs: one clear blue celadon, one blue celadon with heavy freckles; one clear green celadon, and a green celadon with heavy freckles.
My farm partner saw a post asking if quail could be bred to be “olive eggers”, as chickens can. I scoffed… but collecting eggs today, I couldn’t deny that “celadon” comes in several shades (as well as varying degrees of speckles/ freckles).

A flat of white & blue duck eggs waiting to be washed & set for incubation.
On your mark, get set… DUCK! So many thanks to Ivan and his Welsh Harlequin duck, and to our own Runner duck, for these eggs which (fingers crossed!) hatch out into some fluffy little ducklings in four weeks.

A flat of chicken eggs in mixed colours, marked with letters to indicate the pen they came from.
I’ve started collecting eggs to hatch for Seedy Saturday, 29 March at the Tlell market. Prices will stay the same as 2021-24. Limited #s of sexed/ female chicks; larger #s of straight run chicks. No preorders this year; we’ll post what hatches. We’ll also have laying quail hens, hatched Jan 2025.
