Surprise! It's a new book!

This is a bronze and silver pendant shaped vaguely like a galah cockatoo with a bring pink oval stone where the wing would be.

1. A pair of powder-coated folded copper earrings that were supposed to match the Brona cover but don't. 2. A hair pin made with folded copper. 3. The same bird pendant because I'm really proud, ok?? 4. A brass pendant incorporating one of my flameworked glass beads from last year. It rolls around, so it's a fidget necklace!

The cockatoo pendant sits on Books & Bewitchment for obvious reasons.

I finished some pieces in jewelry class today, including Doris from Books & Bewitchment! The earrings are supposed to match the Brona cover, but this was my first time doing powder coating and I wish I'd added more color.

Oh, nothing, just staring at the cover that just landed in my inbox and kicking my feet.

I have just learned, after literally everyone else in the world, that people can see that I've witnessed their Story on Instagram. PARDON ME, but that is my EMOTIONAL SUPPORT LURK, and I don't care to BE PERCEIVED. Please respect my privacy at this and all times.

The UK edition of B&B sits on a shelf with a label in pounds, hoping it will be adopted and doing its best to look enticing and perky.

There are so many online that I had to ask the editor to send me the official one! And then I had to get out my readers...

They tell you to develop a thick skin as a writer, but no one can adequately explain what it feels like to hop into revisions and discover that the editor has chosen to cut your hilarious one-liner about cow birth.

One thing that really cracks me up about the AI slop 'we're a savvy book club' emails is that while they write a sophomore college essay about theme and resonance, I, a pro writer, would be like, "It's amazing, read it in two days and can't stop thinking about it, already forgot the plot, 5 stars."

A very cool skeleton leans against RIDE OR DIE, which is very 80s/Goosebumpy with magenta, plum, and light blue. A decrepit roller coaster zooms into a cloud skull, as one does. You want to vote for this, if you are a person who received a ballot today. A ballot for what? Only the Horror Writers know. Mua-hahahaha!

Fun fact about RIDE OR DIE: the cover almost featured a Five Nights at Freddy's-esque, deteriorating old man prospector mascot, but we changed direction. And now it is one of my coolest covers, done by Matty Ryan Tobin.

Holy CRAP this was an amazingly good book. It's dark, it's taunting, it's taut. Ooof. This one will stay with me for a looooong time.
