Astral Bird

Finished this watercolor last night, it’s definitely an exploratory piece that got me back into doing larger watercolors. Pleased with how she turned out, though a concept to revisit!

God it’s been so long since I’ve been excited and giddy to get home and draw. I missed this feeling but it’s also great to know it does come back

Artists feel pressured to make new art too quickly at the moment. Normalise artists fucking disappearing for months. Just walk off into the woods for a year and come back with a single sketch. It’s good for you

This is why I love being an art teacher. It’s also crazy overwhelming because I now get choice paralysis.

I was told by a student today that I have a good ASMR voice, but I need to be more chill.

I didn’t even have a response to that.

I think the best part of being an artist is knowing that we have all collectively said "idk what I'm doing tbh" a few times at some point in our journey lol.

I used to do artist alleys, but I didn’t grow with it because other things had to take priority.The bar is set so astronomically high, and trying to get back into it feels like I’m starting a marathon already miles behind.

I have such a hard time with this. I’m a thick line gal. I love a thick line and don’t know how to make them smaller to keep the energy.

I love when artists have interests beyond fandom!

Art is so weird. You take these mess of lines and scribbles and they end up looking like something. It’s weird.

Some Chappell Roan studies to bring me back to speed on making sketchbook spreads. It’s been a bit and I love stretching my realism muscles.
