It's super cool that if you want even a brief distraction from the horrors of the world you can watch a hockey game on the same day as the US ordered the bombing of another country between two teams captained by men who were, mere days ago, personal guests of Donald Trump at the White House.

The players who apologized but went to the state of the union address are NOT good people. they are not “not political”. You went to a LITERAL POLITIC EVENT. You went to prop up fascism.

It's deeply uncomfortable to watch the USA/PWHL players explain men's shitty behavior and have to try and thread the PR needle.

A gold medal game is a different vibe than in race-type events bc you don’t win silver, you lose gold. Similarly, bronze medal matches are the difference between medaling & finishing off-podium. The Canadian women were equally bummed to be getting their silver medals (as were the U.S. women in 2022)
