10.10.2025 23:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How can none of the βjurnulistsβ in the room not ask him to explain how a 1000% cut in price works.
10.10.2025 23:23 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I get it, but being threatened with your broadcast licence is pretty terminal for a TV channel. Iβm sure ABC wld win a challenge, but Trump doesnβt play by the rules, so youβre screwed. What they should do is put the show on YouTube, or TikTok, no FCC regulations there!
21.09.2025 13:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0and that is why you need Home Assistant (although I admit it still needs a little technical skill to run). I control lights, TV, Sonos, countless smart plug, heating and robot vacuum all from a single app.
16.09.2025 20:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I hope many of their members see this. More politicians need to be saying this. The RW all too often get to lead the narrative, if this is a start in the grass roots then I'm all for it!
09.09.2025 11:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, new models only. A Freely stick has been announced but not yet available. or as an app on Amazon Fire TV stick, which saves having to replace a TV.
29.08.2025 17:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs what Freely has been created to address. Itβs reasonable complex to have broadcasters, manufacturers and infrastructure to all agree to a new specification and get to market.

19.01.2025 09:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Been running HA for about 5 years, mostly lights, switches and heating. The beauty of HA of just being able to add new sensors etc from (almost) any manufacturer mean over time you can have a single unified interface. Also, the add-ons provide a simple way to host many open source projects.

Well that was very easy - more about reading the instructions properly. Plug the Everything Presence Lite in to laptop and config wifi and adoption to Home Assistance are only a few clicks. Adding the map is necessary if you want to set the zones correctly. It's so quick may replace the old PIR!
29.12.2024 10:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A ESP8266 dev board
Well it would seem what I thought was a spare ESP32 board turns out to be a ESP8266 - without Bluetooth - makes setting up a BT Proxy that little bit harder π

Late present, means I get to geek out now our guest have left. First up adding Bluetooth Proxy to Home Assistant. Have been meaning to for some time as have an electric toothbrush but didnβt seem worth the hassle. So far a single button click and some waiting!
28.12.2024 12:23 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah, Piβs great to start with. But as my HA grew I struggled with random errors and shutdowns for some time (too long). Upgraded to a mini PC and everything was resolved, plus I had loads of capacity for even more HA add-ons - maybe time to upgrade π
26.12.2024 23:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0True. I guess it depends if heβs more a software or hardware type of guy! Also I found the ESP32βs a great introduction to hardware, fewer pins but combined with HA was able to make more practical things - motion sensor, physical volume knob for Sonos, motion sensor. The complexity taken up by HA
15.12.2024 09:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Could try Home Assistant on the Pi - Iβm sure there are a few things to control at home already. Then move on to ESP32 boards with a bunch of cheap sensors. There are loads of online help and an amazing community he could tinker well into the new year!
15.12.2024 02:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve had mixed results with pop-ups. Itβs ok with tap actions showing a single entity but if I want to show a modal multi entity pop-up it never really worked. What have you gone for?
Update my whole dashboard to sections recently - great improvement, although I hope the vertical spacing is sorted.
I can highly recommend Home Assistant and ESP Home. Buy a ESP32 board and a bunch of sensors (or switches or LEDs) and then messaging either way, to or from the sensor is really simple. I had a great lockdown playing with a bunch of stuff.
08.12.2024 23:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah this is the answer. Have a guest mode, trigged either manually or by identifying an unknown phone and your nativity.
05.12.2024 00:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not so much 'analysis' as a given. Pretty much anyone that deals with him ends up on the wrong side of the law. Which would be interesting for the worlds richest man π€
04.12.2024 07:50 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You can start easily with Home Assistant. Raspberry Pi or old PC to use as a hub then you can mix and match cheap (tend to be less accurate - Sonoff) with expensive (Aeon) sensors and show them all in the same dashboard. Be easy to configure fans or similar to turn on from a sensor value.
04.12.2024 06:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yep Home Assistant. Run it on (almost) any hardware, make it look (almost) however you want, integrate with (almost) every device and do it all local (if you want). Also Iβve found voice control not the best when you have a large number of devices to control. HA I have a button!
04.12.2024 06:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is the answer. Because it with be this holiday geek project and spring. And summer. And autumn. And every holiday season for ever more. And youβll have zero regrets.
03.12.2024 06:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The iCloud3 integration stopped sharing family members , so I switched to everyone having the mobile HA app. If you can get passed the location use notifications and set to Use Always, the updates are pretty quick - spots me leaving the office to pick up lunch!
