On Thursday afternoons instead of evening prayer with the Brethren of CR, there is a student led service, which can take any form they choose. Tonight we had a beautiful time of prayer after the customs of Taizé.

There’s a fairly lavish dinner planned for this evening. Given we also had a fantastic cooked breakfast, I do wonder how people will do justice to it…

And the kitchen helped us celebrate with home made doughnuts at elevenses 😋 #CakeWatch

Happy feast of Simon and Jude! This is the college’s Foundation Day, so a special occasion for us. We like to think that the most obscure of the apostles are perfect patrons for a college that’s always focussed on producing priests who serve parish and people.

Today the Church celebrates St Paulinus, who came from Rome as a missionary to the North of England from Rome. He’s literally close to us in Mirfield, as he founded Dewsbury Minster, just along the valley from us, and brought the Christian faith to this place.

A cooked breakfast sitting out under heat lamps. The sausages look particularly good.

Happy feast of St Matthew! As is tradition, we marked the feast with Mattins half an hour later than usual (we join the Community for Mass this evening) and a cooked breakfast.

And of course Sunday is also the day we look forward to a delicious roast dinner (the kitchen do a fantastic job).

It’s the first Sunday of term. Staff and students join the brethren of the Community of the Resurrection for mattins and Mass. Later in the term students will head out on placement at local churches, but for now there’s time to relax (or get some reading done!)
