When researching what can go wrong w/ #edtech integration (at the classroom/building/and district level), I found educators citing the exact same problems today that they flagged 10+ years ago.
I went out searching for guidance on carving a path forward.
My latest for @edutopia.org:
So much wisdom in this article! Reflecting on my time as an administrator, and remembering MANY challenging interactions that could have been better if I had used these three R's.

#EduInFocus Q1 - First, there needs to be a culture of trust in the building. Informal walk-throughs, a "pineapple" welcoming system, learning walks, and other similar activities need to occur frequently so that staff don't equate a visit with an evaluation.

The art of teaching is often in taking what is standard practice and looking for ways to make it more effective in the classroom.
These are 15 of my favorite ways to tweak common formative assessment techniques to increase student reflection and ownership in the assessment process.

Our team came together to offer our personal thank yous. Happy #TeacherAppreciationWeek from all of us at Edutopia!
I did it too. I think that was such an important skill - both the understanding of the grade and the math involved.
17.04.2025 17:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As simple as it sounds, posting work on the classroom walls works wonders. As a junior high teacher, I thought the students didn't care about seeing their work, but once I started posting, they loved it! #EduInFocus

"Some of the most valuable insights come not from rushing to get things done, but in the messy, unhurried act of giving something my full and undivided attention." So true, yet so challenging in this age of multi-tasking!

04.03.2025 23:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you for this article! Prioritizing the stakeholders' social and emotional needs must come before focusing on academic needs.
04.03.2025 23:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is a good tool for focusing on what is truly important and where you should focus. The challenge is the nonstop, urgent things that constantly pop up in an administrator's day.
