Every major disaster in this country over my lifetime has been self inflicted by right wing ideologues with just enough complicit or inert Democrats to enable or ratify them. That's why we've been on this doom trajectory for the last ~50 years and it'll keep getting worse if that doesn't change

I’m 62 years old, I live in Tampa, I eat corn and beef everyday, I always have a titleist hat on, and Iran is the biggest threat to my freedom

The second you leave this country for even a few days, you realize the place you call home is decaying at an almost exponential pace. The realization that you don't have to live like this is stark, and that nobody in power is taking tangible actions to fix it in your lifetime is even starker.

The reason we're here is that tens of millions of people will punch a hole in a wall if they hear someone used food stamps to buy soda but they're fine if the right-wing podcaster turned fbi director uses his taxpayer funded private jet to go party whenever he feels like it bsky.app/profile/thed...

He's a moron! We're giving over our entire society to a class of idiot grifters with more money than sense! They're all in cahoots with one another and want a world where there's nothing left for most of us to do but lie around catatonically as they hoard the riches of a dying planet! I say no!

PubliCola confirmed this morning that the city settled with Jaahnavi Kandula's family for $29,011,000. The added $11,000, which the family requested in their lawsuit, is a reference to then-police guild vice president Daniel Auderer's "joke" that Kandula's life was only worth that much.

With Ring, American Consumers Built a Surveillance Dragnet Ring's 'Search Party' is dystopian surveillance accelerationism.

Ring is a wildly dangerous company. Always has been. But it has sort of flown under the radar the last couple years as it tried to soften its image. Make no mistake that this is an extremely dangerous surveillance dragnet:

Asked on AF1 if he’s going to fire the staffer who allegedly posted the Obamas video, Trump says: β€œNo, I looked at it. I saw it, and I just looked at the first part.” He says he β€œdidn’t see” that part. Will he apologize? β€œNo, I didn't make a mistake.”

"rich dipshit owner doesn't understand the industry he's bought into and clumsily destroys what made it good" feels less like a narrative unique to the washington post and more like the music that's been playing in the background of all our lives for at least 40 years

They will win in '26, but no matter what the margin is the narrative will be "Well, it wasn't by as wide a margin as anticipated, so they can't really do anything.". They will use that narrative to hold everyone hostage again for '28.
