Unlike the fantasy romcom I’ve given up writing, these books are actually funny.

Finding readers through social media seems to be veeeery hard and very long. And the discoverability on Bluesky is not amazing, I'm afraid. But your book has a nice cover that screams "romance!" so that's good! Have you set up an ARC team to get some initial momentum on release day?

I went for a softer rendering rather than sharp lineart to match the cozy vibes. Lmk what you think!

You can instantly check the following!

1) Cover: does it clearly signal your genre? Can you tell it's a F/M hockey rom-com in less than 2 seconds?

Of course these are from different subgenres, although I didn't include full blown fantasy romances here (I could have, it was a melting pot after all!)
Curious to know if you've noticed other trends :)

Small town romances opt for covers with only backgrounds, and characters are very detailled! Of course, the palette is extremely ORANGE, and although not related to the cover itself, your title better include a wordplay on "fall" or mention pumpkins.

Illustrated covers are still in. I see way less vector covers (still included one), and a lot more of full blown illustrations. Looks like backgrounds are very important, and detailled covers are the way to go!

Sooo, what's up with fall #romancebooks this year? I've made a mix and match comp grid to see what we've got in all subgenres mixed. All of these were published in the last 90 days and have 100+ reviews. Does your cover fit it here?

Well I would not bat an eye, a phoenix would be perfect for the cover then!

It could be purely symbolic, but I'd expect a parallel at some point that would make me say "oooh I get it". Like a "returning from the ashes" scene for a phoenix or a character guarding something preciously and fiercely for a dragon.

I've started listening to audiobooks a little more now that Spotify Premium includes a few hours per month! I definitely need to try that!

Oh for YA romance I think my style would fit! I do illustrated covers and I want to focus on romance covers! I don't have a big portfolio yet, though, but I can do some mockups with no strings attached if you'd like :)

Amazing, my Instagram/Threads account was just disabled. From what I've seen, it's basically impossible to get it back... so I'm not really sure where to go from there. Can I even do book covers if I don't have Instagram? It looks like it's basically THE platform to connect.

In case you're wondering YES I have a TBR but I crave something new to cleanse me from the past.
