I really enjoyed printing this guy for the MONSTER print exchange. The inspiration was the character Badger from the series Firefly that ran for only one 14-episode season in 2002.

Making quick progress.

The beginning of something new! Two colors down! No idea how many more to go.

Began drawing the key layer today. He’s lookin’ spiffy right from the get go.

Months of sketching out ideas, on paper and with AI, and I’ve finally settled on a design for my Monster print exchange image. I’m going to have so much fun drawing screenprint layers for this dude! Now I get to decide how many runs to separate it into.

I had an absolute blast last week as a visiting artist at Fort Hays State U. in Kansas! Three days getting to know the students in 4 different printmaking classes and the opportunity to work with the Intro Screenprint students to print some monsters.

I'm curious as to what your purpose and intent was to tell a stranger that you're disappointed in their artwork?

CMYK screen print isometric wizard!

Pulled a single proof of this swamp monster. I think I’ll darken the red and try again before running a small edition.

It’s challenging keeping a print to a simple two-color combo. My instinct is to add about 15 more colors and I have to fight those urges.

A mostly finished screenprint separation. There are a few details to touch up and then it’s ready to expose and print.

Working on something new. A swamp monster.

Standing beside a freshly printed 40x40 woodcut. The first in series of wizards based on pewter miniatures from the 80’s and 90’s to explore and depict escapism through nostalgia and fantasy.

Interpreting the blended background to be more subtle than the sketch was fun.

My small linocut “Care Bear Scare” from February 2024 was inspired by this oil painting by the legend Gerald Brom.

His painting was used as the cover for the Dragonlance game adventure Tree Lords, published April 1991 by TSR, the original publisher of Dungeons & Dragons.

A recent screenprint made at CSU Stanislaus in November, ‘24 when I was a visiting artist.

I’ve been using a couple AI image generators as a creative tool in developing my compositions. This one was based on this specific vintage pewter figurine.

In October I was working on this key separation for what will be a screenprint. Then I had a side quest and was pulled away to print something else. Now it’s time to revisit and resume drawing this wizard. Based on an AI sketch which is based off a vintage pewter figurine I my collection.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who still uses rapidogrqphs!

Doodling with brush-tip acrylic markers for the first time. Having lots of fun. These quick blobs of color will all be outlined and turned into bugs/critters/creatures.
