As LED technology hits more accessible price points, it’ll be interesting to see how projection positions itself to compete. Apart from projection mapping, which dazzles, I usually hear about projection as “the most cost-effective way, per square inch, to display very large images.”

There are lots of us in AV! For me, anything beyond Barry Manilow, Air Supply, The Temptations, Whitney Houston and Les Miz showtimes is ear-splitting hard rock.

Exactly! Specializing in spatial and immersive audio solutions for transformational spaces is where the real impact happens and where it truly shines.

SI audio in basic conference rooms - that might be a bit of a stretch, but there's plenty of potential in the right environments!

Spatial audio & immersive audio can be important tools in the resurgent experience economy. I don’t see much use in integrators’ bread-and-butter projects. However, w/ pandemic-related adaptive expenditure over, it may be wise for integrators to lean into experience economy opportunities.

I found comments regarding AI from Pierre Racz, founder of Genetec, provocative. He said, at this point, AI doesn’t stand for “artificial intelligence” but, rather, “absolute ignorance.” It’s IA that he’s interested in—intelligent automation. Humans, he said, must be in the driver’s seat.

I was just on a demo call this week where the manufacturer was touting the benefits of predictable, reliable preset camera positions vs. auto-tracking cameras that might “know” to track the presenter but not “know” what the presenter is actually trying to show/highlight.

The change in compensation part is critical but often overlooked. When your best salespeople have been accustomed to being paid based on high-dollar capital projects, it can pose a challenge: Build a new incentive structure for them, or hire additional people dedicated to RMR-based sales.

One thing to keep in mind: Having Imposter Syndrome is actually a good sign. The brightest, most capable people I know tend to doubt themselves (and then persevere mightily through adversity). Those who never doubt themselves usually are unaware of their true limitations.
