11.03.2025 06:52 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Four young Kalash children are sitting in front of their home. The Kalash people are an indigenous ethnic group residing in the remote valleys of the Chitral district in northern Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan. They are known for their distinct culture, religion, and lifestyle that set them apart from the majority Muslim population of Pakistan. The Kalash have attracted considerable interest due to their unique traditions, language, and physical appearance, which are sometimes described as being more akin to ancient Indo-European groups than the other ethnicities in the region. The Kalash practice a form of animism and polytheism that includes a belief in multiple gods, spirits, and deities. Their religion is heavily tied to nature and agriculture, with many rituals and ceremonies dedicated to deities associated with water, the sun, and fertility. The Kalash people also believe in ancestral spirits and often perform offerings and sacrifices to ensure prosperity, good harvests, and the well-being of their community.

Every Kalash child is left with a dirty face, to avoid attracting unwanted spirit attention. The Kalash are known as the indigenous people of Chitral Pakistan, and their ancestors migrated to Chitral from Afghanistan in the 2nd century BC.

โชA womanโs headdress in Ladakh called a Perak, is often a stunning artistic achievement, and it provides a statement of her status, wealth, artistic sense, and history. It is a prized possession and is often passed down from mother to daughter.

Prayer flags flutter from the huge stupa at Boudhanath, Kathmandu's most important Buddhist site and heart of the cityโs Tibetan community.
On either side at the base of the steps up to the Boudhanath Stupa Kathmandu, is a guardian on an elephant.
The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. On either side, at the base of the steps up to the Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, is a guardian on an elephant. One guardian is male, and the other is female.

Terraced rice fields. Located primarily in the mountain areas in the North of Vietnam, the terraced rice fields are called the โstairway to Heavenโ by many people. These are the result of really amazing work over a hundred years by local hill tribes, mostly the Hโmong people. Living in the area of the high mountains, the only way for them to cultivate the wet rice is by creating terraces on the slopes of the mountains in which to keep water for growing the rice. Different from rice cultivation on the plain, the Vietnam terraced rice fields can be cultivated with only one crop per year, normally from June to October. Starting in September, the fields start changing colour from green to yellow in preparation for the new harvest.
Terraced rice fields. Every year, between September and October, the terraced rice fields of Mรน Cang Chแบฃi, a rural district in northern Vietnamโs Yรชn Bรกi Province, put on a show of picturesque harvest colours. The curving terraces, although man-made, appear to be in complete harmony with the landscape, creating a hypnotic patterning across the hills and valleys.
