I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.

Hamlet is probably mine, but Othello is fairly high.

Toby Jones is tempting - if he was doing something more cheerful I’d be there like a shot, but Othello doesn’t grab me.

Cheers! I have a Negroni Rosa, before some slightly experimental cooking - the experiment being if the husband can eat it. #ConfinedCocktails

A square golden brown bread, studded with black olives.
Please admire my focaccia (pretty pleased with this, considering the yeast was more than a year out of date… #ArchivedIngredients

The chutney is very much for the husband… and I don’t know what the cheeses are yet, I’ll find out during the tasting.

I would be tempted to see it again, if the Southbank wasn’t such a schlep.

No cocktail, in anticipation of a cheese and wine tasting in a bit - so here is a photo of the cheese instead. We’ve been out two evenings this week (to excellent things both times), which is the most we’ve done in some time! #ConfinedCocktails

A circular geometric design painted in shades of blue, with a silver border and a silver painted star in the centre.
Finished this the other day. Enjoyed painting all the blues, very soothing.

A hand with purple painted nails holds a short glass containing a reddish purple liquid, a large ice cube and a sprig of rosemary in front of a vase of purple flowers.
Just back from a very interesting talk by Andrew Graham-Dixon on his new interpretation of Vermeer, which I like. Now drinking this Negrino (Sloe gin, fino sherry, gentian liqueur) which I also like.

The front cover of a programme for Top Hat The Musical.
This was brilliant! With a full orchestra, very rare in regional touring these days.

Saw this last night and really enjoyed it, even as a non football fan. Very clever storytelling and staging.

There is no need for a moral panic about the UK's welfare system.
Far from perfect but recent discourse is nuts
Spending is controlled, not spiralling
Worklessness is near record lows
