A loose star cluster which is made up of 7 bright stars and numerous smaller stars. The cluster is seated inside (and thus interacting with) a bright blue reflection nebula, creating a beautiful spectacle.
One of the biggest and most publicized disputes in stellar astronomy in recent decades centers on the distance to this star cluster, the Pleiades (the 7 Sisters).
