For now, I can only apologize, and let it go. Thank you all for your amazing contributions, for your excitement, for your support. I love and appreciate every one of you.

I am so sorry for raising hopes only to let them down, & I'm sorry it's taken me this long to be honest with myself, & with you all, & finally call it. I hope to someday return to the project, in a time when my energy and capacity are both improved, & maybe not by myself.

I did not expect how much energy I would have to put elsewhere in my day to day. Multiple times I tried to turn back to VMQ and make progress, and ultimately it's just proven too big a project for my current bandwidth levels.

I started the idea in a wave of inspiration & excitement about a year ago, champing at the bit. I had expected that an anticipated cross-country move in the fall would mean a slowdown on productivity. I did not expect exactly what life would look like after the move.

Hello all. I am so sorry for the radio silence the past couple of months. I'll get to the point, especially since this is probably not a surprise to many of you, but I have decided to put VMQ on indefinite hiatus.

Hello all! Apologies for all the radio silence...we've had some difficulties with getting the first issue together, both technical & brain-wise. We're trying to get through them as best we can & appreciate everyone's patience in the meantime ❤️ we want to get this issue up & out!!

If it's hyper focusing on details of creative process for writing that isn't art, WE WANT IT!

Why do you salivate for that brand of colored pencil? Why do you only paint at that time of day? What is it about THAT yarn? We want the nitty gritty! We want the obsession! Please! Send it to us!

Haven't posted basically for ages due to stress & illness, BUT we are still alive, still going, & still open for submissions! We want essays, vents, rants, sonnets, reviews, interviews, peer reviews - anything that tells us about the details of your (non-writing) art!

Friday reminder that we are OPEN for submissions for Issue Two! We want any & all of your pieces about creativity! Issue Two is themed around non-writing art forms & we want to see & hear what YOU have to show & say about it! Check out the link in our bio for guidelines & sub forms!

We understand that this can be a tricky subject, and so ask for patience and grace as we try to put a more sophisticated policy in place. Some input from y'all is welcome, to a point, just please understand that we're always going to side with the living, breathing artists.

We are also putting together an email for those contributors we have already accepted for Issues One and Two before putting that requirement in the submission form; that will be going out in the next week or so, asking how much, if any, AI content was in their submissions.

We acknowledge that AI can have some usefulness with things like ChatGPT. However, in the visual art world, the harm done to living breathing creators is too vast, & the tools too ill-regulated, for us to allow inclusion of anything created using the likes of Midjourney, etc.

As we reopen submissions for Issue Two, we would like to draw attention to a new addition to the submission form. For both visual & written subs, we have added a box regarding AI, asking that submitters acknowledge & state that their art is of their own making, w/little to no AI.

We are VERY pleased to announce that we have finally caught up! All responses to Issue Two submissions pertaining to writing have been sent out.

This also means that submissions for Issue Two are once again OPEN for any work that is NOT focused on the art form of writing! Woo!

Apologies for the delay on re-opening submissions & sending out responses, VMQ HQ has had a sick kiddo since Saturday which has obviously been the priority for our time & attention. Will try to get things done as soon as we can, & keep y'all posted!

Our publication date for Issue One is being PUSHED BACK to the beginning of 2024. We did not make this decision lightly & apologize to any contributors who are disappointed or inconvenienced with this change. We only want to give this issue the attention it deserves.

A VERY QUICK tl;dr: - submissions for Issue Two will be CLOSED 10/16-10/22 - they will reopen 10/23 for any pieces that are NOT focused on the art form of writing - deadline for current sub period is being extended to 12/31 - and last but not least:
