Motorways could be added to driving test curriculum within three years Lack of formal education means Irish motorway driving is worse than in Germany, a senior RSA official said.

How will this work for driving test centres that are far from motorways? Eg Skibbereen in West Cork. Nearest motorway is 75 km away near Cork city. Does this mean no tests in places far from the motorway network? Driving on N roads is the problem.

Tyrone find extra gear down the stretch to pip Donegal Tyrone claimed the scalp of Donegal in a very entertaining All-Ireland series game in MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey, winning by 2-27 to 0-20

Donegal V Tyrone was a great game. The new rules are a big improvement. That game would've been defensive muck in previous years.

Great game. The new rules have made a huge difference. This game would have been defensive muck in previous years. Tyrone were excellent. There must be another All Ireland in this team.

"Who ordered the Code Red?"

As a schoolkid in the 1990s, I performed the Few Good Men scene, Jack Nicholson vs Tom Cruise, on my own, in drama class, playing both! So Hasan Minhaj, on his show, challenged me to re-enact it with him.

And we did! Enjoy!

Great thread. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a great fella. Do they make them like that anymore? Also, I see he did an apprenticeship; would more people (especially young men) be better off if there were decent apprenticeships?

Looked to me like they didn't want to win that match, really. Their All Ireland group will be easier as a result. OTOH, Galway looked very good.

Thinking of my grandmother's brother Cprl Christopher Connolly, gunner in the Royal artillery in WW2 and taken prisoner of war at Dunkirk. Freed by the Allies after 5 years. Died not long after the war in an industrial accident. Buried in the Abbey cemetery, Bantry. #VEDay

Member of the Brooke dynasty from Fermanagh. Did not consider himself "Irish." An Ulsterman or British.

Geoffrey Roberts. A pro Russia shill. Disappointing really. Retired prof of 20th century history in UCC. A deeply strange interview. I guess at least he's honest in his pro Russia viewpoint-he doesn't disguise it.

Not true. O'Sullivan got a motion passed in Cork CC in 2014 & a few businesses installed fluoride filters at the time. A load of nonsense. The water supply in Bantry contains fluoride, thankfully.

There's a strong strain of bullshit con-artistry in American history. Trump is the latest example. It runs side by side with the more noble themes of American history. It's probably the 1st time the BS con-artist strain is in the WH, though. Or maybe not?

Didn't see it. Heard it was appalling rubbish. A film as mystifying to the "Irish" as to anyone else. A poor man's "Playboy of the Western World" (JM Synge).

The figures for Ireland are bananas. And not believable, obviously. Distorted by Multi National Companies trading here. GNP growth per capita is a better figure for Ireland. Some of the MNC investment is here for tax reasons.

The Viennese are famously rude. Too many tourists. Always wanted to go. Went and found it appalling. Other central European cities are more interesting & with nicer people and food - Prague, Budapest.

Okay look I am very opposed to increased militarism and but if you think the state shouldn't seek to replace outdated weapons systems and infantry vehicles, just be honest and say you want the Irish army abolished because that is in effect what you are arguing for

I doubt it bothered him too much at that stage. When you've dealt with all manner of eejits and bad people as Bergoglio/Pope Francis did, then Vance is just one more. The right ward turn off the Catholic church in the US concerned Pope Francis big time.
