To be clear for anyone not familiar with security operations. For 24:7 coverage, it takes more than 4 X the force you want on the ground. Usually 3 shifts of duty/rest/prepare. Than add another 1/4+of admin/log support.

300 troops put two platoons on the ground.

When "legal" American tourists go to foreign ERs, the host nation taxpayers pay for the care.

The more you know...

In another part of the camp they showed me the children, hundreds of them. Some were only six. One rolled up his sleeve, showed me his number. It was tattooed on his arm. B-6030, it was. The others showed me their numbers. They will carry them till they die. An elderly man standing beside me said, 'The childrenโ€“enemies of the state!' I could see their ribs through their thin shirts. The old man said, 'I am Professor Charles Richer of the Sorbonne.' The children clung to my hands and stared. We crossed to the courtyard. Men kept coming up to me to speak to me and touch me, professors from Poland, doctors from Vienna, men from all of Europe. Men from the countries that made America.

Ahh skulls and the Punisher. Symbolism used first by the SS, then by Iraqi federal police death squads.

Also didn't the punisher like hate cops and the justice system?

a little girl in a red coat is walking down the street with a man in a black coat . ALT: a little girl in a red coat is walking down the street with a man in a black coat .

This scene in Schindler's List was a pretty good depiction of ghetto clearing operations.

Worth your time.

You can also talk to a GWOT veteran who participated in countless midnight raids to family homes and compounds.

It takes a real sociopath to not be impacted by these missions.

When I was considering buying my first e-bike, the King St metro in Alexandria had like 4 bike boxes.

That left picture? The bikes you see are the commuter equivalent of the entire Pentagon South parking lot.
The efficiency of minor bike infrastructure investment is mind boggling.

There are multiple volumes making up the after action review of the two simultaneous multi-year conflicts we fought after 9-11. Both in some pretty unforgiving environments.
Our Soldier's physical fitness or lack thereof cannot be found in said tomes.

The next worst day is when you write the letter to the family.
The next worst day is the unit memorial or ramp ceremony.
The next worst day is when you redeploy and go visit them and attempt to console them.
The next worst day is the day you cannot stop thinking about them, which is every day.

If you love the Troopsโ„ข๏ธ you need to care about firearms policy.

Did you known suicide attempts for military and veterans are actually down?
But "successful" completion is at over 90%. Because they use firearms. Because as a community we own way more than civilian counterparts.

[taps ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ]: since the beginning of recorded time, disaffected young men have swooned to radical ideas like moths to a flame. What's unique in this moment is it's happening in a culture awash with 400,000,000 firearms.

My first real mission in Iraq was cleaning up a rolling mass execution north of Baghdad. U.S. forces closed the highway due to a helicopter downing forcing Shia workers to use backroads. Sunnis set up moving checkpoints, stopping cars and executing the drivers then taking the cars. Took Al day.
