Apse of Sant'Apollinare in Classe. Mosaics depict a Cross in a large disk backed by the starry sky. The Hand of God decends from above. Below is a green valley with Saint Apollinaris praying, flanked by twelve white lambs. Below, between windows are four bishops of Ravenna. At the far right and left of apse are 7th century mosaics associated with Constans II's (r. 641–668) time in Italy.
