I had an incredible time checking out Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Combat is pretty consistent, but the overworld is filled with life, so many QoL enhancements, and I'm so excited to learn about the full roster.

But I do think if you're coming in totally fresh there is some level of research that should be done, otherwise there's the potential that your words just won't make sense..

Being able to use a resource like a power cable. Then disconnect it and roll it up to use again for another day made me feel giddy about how you don't need to waste stuff haha

It was such an honor to be able to play all of these games and it makes me SO EXCITED for the indie scene that there's just so many unique ideas and fun games coming out so damn often

I loved the way the game would naturally attract me to rails, walls, etc so that even when I didn't think I was going to do something cool... I ended up doing really cool things

absolutely blew me away! Scale of the non-proc gen world was huge, story was super interesting, and QoL options were amazing

You can tell they've been studying other games with crafting to make it better for the player

Another Soulslike, more classic in gameplay, and even more classic in it's look.

is a early PS2 inspired soulslike where I got to walk around a really awesome gothic castle and get my ass handed to me.

Looks like an early PS2 game, runs and feels hella smooth

An arena shooter with cute animals and VERY customizable mechs is ANIME Stars Arena

The gameplay was fun and their Kickstarter is live now!

They also had a cool physical mech from the game with detachable parts

Then there was #DeathHowl that was a unique take on the grit and difficulty of Soulslike but in a beautiful pixelated tactics game

Each battle is smaller in scale making it bite-sized, but super tough to get a few back to back
