There's a tendency among a certain type of poster to assume everything they hate about politics and the state can be blamed on avarice, and I'm here to tell you it's actually worse than that.

I don’t think that’s conspiratorial at all.

The despicable ways in which conservatives have gone all in to defend that bloated carcass of a man are unforgivable. They should never be forgiven, there is no "reaching across the aisle," there is no redemption. They should be chastised and shunned until they are gone from the earth.

Even better!

It’s incredibly telling that every proponent for the idea that collapse is a net-Good has to sidestep the demonstrable evidence of a *sharp* decline in population in its aftermath.

So according to the EU it is better to not be transparent and instead cover things up.

lol, well that’s one way to spin this I suppose.

Well if he gets sick(er) and passes away it’s likely he’ll get a bit approval bump.

Bill Clinton is a creep and by any definition a predator but I’ve always just assumed the more conspiratorial shit to be GOP projection.

Everything that continues to chip away at his approval rating, reputation, (both vital in attempts to accrue and exert power) and hopefully physical health is worth aggressively pursuing. And this could do some deep chipping.

Epstein Alleged in Emails That Trump Knew of His Conduct

One day the US will have to face the shame and horror of what has happened here: that a cabal of wealthy people have elevated a monster into the most powerful person in the world www.nytimes.com/2025/11/12/u...

Our leading news organizations turned a cache of ultimately-innocuous emails into a scandal-coded weeklong series of front page stories leading into the 2016 election. If they do not cover the "emails from notorious pedophile implication the President" emails with the same fervor, it's curious!

It’s not just that Trump is personally a rapist, though there’s lots of credible evidence to suggest that he is. It’s that he is promoting a fundamentally pro-rape ideology, and that the permissiveness for rape and entitlement to rape that are core to his worldview are central to his appeal for men.

The first and last lines of Joni Ernst’s legacy as a human on earth will be that she was instrumental in the confirmation of the Sec of Defense most hostile to women serving in military, and she knew that when she voted for him.

I mostly like Kruse, genuinely, and I don’t believe he was doing this consciously. And maybe there is some of this that was him genuinely being swayed by the messaging! But man, at least realize it’s happening and account for the change.

Elon Musk: Grok Imagine prompt: She smiles and says "I will always love you"

I know people think Musk only bought Twitter to help the rise of fascism.

While that’s important, I still think it’s secondary to his primary goal, which was to own the place where his fans praise him.

With AI, Musk’s use of the platform for love and validation is only getting more transparent.

Elon spent $44 billion on a website solely to make himself the main character only for everyone (who didn’t already know) to see he literally has no character. He is literally the NPC in all the right-wing memes he loves so much.

The Social Network spinoff writes itself really.

I Want You to Understand Chicago
Politics Chicago
2025-11-08

I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.

Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again.

An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next.

Understand what it is to pray in Chicago. On September 19th, Reverend David Black, lead pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, was praying outside the ICE detention center in Broadview when a DHS agent shot him in the head with pepper balls. Pepper balls are never supposed to be fired at the head because they can seriously injure, or even kill. β€œWe could hear them laughing as they were shooting us from the roof,” Black recalled. He is not the only member of the clergy ICE has assaulted. Methodist pastor Hannah Kardon was violently arrested on October 17th, and Baptist pastor Michael Woolf was shot with pepper balls on November 1st.

Understand what it is to sleep in Chicago. On the night of September 30th, federal agents rappelled from a Black Hawk helicopter to execute a raid on an apartment building on the South Sho…

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

i think people (you and me and everyone we know, everyone) have genuinely underestimated the nature of the second trump administration and the republican party in thrall to him, and all of us have had some difficulty realigning to them.
