For an hour every week, our distros create the world we want to see ✨️

It's not about taking sides because sides have already been taken. Start standing with your community today! From sourcing supplies like hygiene and non-perishables, to cooking, to coming to distro, there are so many ways to get involved! Send us a DM!

We must be proactive in aiding in survival and resisting the surveillance state because it is imminently practical for our own future. The vast majority of us are a twist of fate away from displacement, not riches.

When we respond to our neighbors' needs we build a political understanding of displacement in the city.

Climate change will force more displacement, and how displaced people are treated now foreshadows their future treatment, too.

Distro update: Lincoln Community Care!

LCC had the sunniest and warmest distro in a while yesterday, and that brought out friends and neighbors on both sides of the distro line. We welcomed some new faces! We distributed food, hygiene, blankets, warm layers, and shoes to 50+ neighbors!

Distro update: Everett Free Grocery Program!

It was the sunniest distro in a while, and the community turned out! Unfortunately, our usual food suppliers fell through, so it was our community pool that got food on the tables this week.

A meeting about community care and direct aid followed distro!

It was incredible to be a part of this! Attendees asked a ton of keen and thoughtful questions, and we walked away from the workshop with new ideas and new relationships. Thank you EFGP and LCC, and just as many thanks to our fantastic hosts at Rooted Books & Gifts and the people of the Tri-Cities!

Mutual aid is a redistributive political formation, so we keep our abolitionist political center at the very core of our organizing!

Yesterday, a neighboring community invited members of Everett Free Grocery Program, Lincoln Community Care, and Omaha Autonomous to about our experiences in MA organizing, answer some questions, work through some brainstorming, chat, & distribute lit!

It becomes clear that we must start building alternatives to the world we live in now. While we distribute warm meals, hand warmers, and clothes to help our neighbors protect themselves, we are also fighting together for a world in which nobody is forced to live or die in the cold.

When they are denied a bed or even a swath of floor at the Mission, when their sleeping bags and tents are forcibly taken, when it's -15 degrees outside, where are these people to go? The City of Lincoln has millions of dollars on hand, yet people will die from exposure in the upcoming week.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor-Baird works with the nonprofit and other entities that make up the Homeless Coalition to "clean up" camps of unhoused people, stripping them of their shelter, belongings, and any stability they have built for themselves.

Our most recent distro took place during a week of life-threatening cold, with wind chills in the -20s. During such weeks the People's City Mission is the only option for many to escape the frigid temperatures, while still many others are turned away from the Mission (no matter what its CEO claims).

Unlike many NGOs (namely, nonprofits), we recognize that to see an end to the problems poor people face, society needs to be radically reinvented. Meanwhile, the City and local NGOs seek to address only the symptoms of poverty.

Introducing Lincoln Community Care! We are a mutual aid collective standing in solidarity with our unhoused neighbors in North and West Lincoln. We are horizontally organized, abolitionist, and rooted in solidarity: Angry at the systematic causes of poverty, not the symptoms. Primarily, Lincoln Community Care organizes a weekly distribution of items vital to people living on the streets or in temporary shelters. More broadly, we are focused on building power through mutual aid. Unlike many NGOs, we recognize that to see an end to the problems poor people face society needs to be radically reinvented.
