I don’t know much about ducks, but she might be a female mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), called “colvert” in French (because the male has a green head (though the "col" isn't the head :-D). The female needs to protect her eggs, so she’s more in camouflage mode than the male.
That’s just my two cents.
