There is so much more to the menu of video games than quality alone. Sometimes you just want a specific flavor. The best soda is Coke but you ever drink a Manzanita Sol just to feel something? I have.

I have more ideas than time but I'd love to/hope to write a little blog post about this. I also feel like this is reserved for specific genres. When I play a basic platformer people aren't saying "why play this when I could play Astro Bot or Celeste?"

Sure! I enjoyed it. I also think (and this isn’t a slight to you bc I’ve heard this a lot) the “why play this when there are so many better games in the genre” thing is a little silly. Having to consume all the best and then “working your way down” is a wildly restrictive way to live

I've never worked with ClickOut Media, and YET I've still been personally affected by their reckless 'journalism.' I'm considering options now, but I can say that my old work been messed with on a site that COM acquired last year, and that I've been recently exposed to legal issues because of them.
