This week our Year 9 football team faced Wright Robinson in the Greater Manchester County Cup. Although the final score was 2-1, there were some standout performances and plenty of great football on display. ⚽👏 Well done, team!

This week, a group of Year 8 students enjoyed a fantastic Old Trafford stadium tour with the Manchester United Foundation. They explored the changing rooms, tunnel, dugout, and press room, and learned about the history of the Munich disaster.

As we celebrate Black History Month at ICA, our interactive Aspire Wall has been updated with new images showcasing influential figures and their remarkable contributions to society. This is a great opportunity for students to learn, reflect, and be inspired. 💫

Today during their maths lesson, students explored substitution in algebra — building their confidence in using formulas and solving expressions. Great focus and problem-solving shown by everyone! ✏️➕📚

On Tuesday, our Year 8 girls’ football team won 2 out of 3 games at the United Learning Cluster Tournament! A fantastic effort from every player and some brilliant goals scored. Well done, team! ⚽️

🧪 In today’s Science lesson, our Year 8 students explored the Periodic Table, identifying different elements and discovering which are metals and which are non-metals.

Following the mask-making workshop, students were treated to a live performance of a Greek tragedy at the Topos Allou Theatre. An incredible opportunity to see ancient drama brought to life in an authentic Greek setting!

All were treated to Domino’s pizza to celebrate their amazing recent wins. 🏆⚽🏉

Athens Trip Update 🇬🇷
Today, our students visited the Ancient Theatre at the Asklepieion of Epidaurus — one of Greece’s most iconic archaeological sites! 🎭✨
They were amazed by the incredible architecture and perfect acoustics that have stood the test of time. A truly unforgettable experience!

On Monday morning, 35 Expressive Arts students and 4 staff landed in Athens to sunshine and 23°C! ☀️

After a 3am start, we visited the ancient theatre in Thorikos and took in stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea 🌊🎭

👏 Congratulations to the Year 9 students who received last week’s Head of Year Recognition Award for showing respect and resilience! 🌟

🎨 Our GCSE Art students recently took part in an inspiring acrylic painting workshop with award-winning Cheshire artist Peter Davis. Under his expert guidance, they explored paint application and contemporary portraiture, developing both skill and confidence. 👩‍🎨🖌️

This week, Year 7 and 8 took on a reverse escape room with The Problem Solving Company — working together to crack codes, solve puzzles, and break into the box! 🔐💙

Today as we celebrated World Mental Health Day, Miss Salt and Miss Evans hosted a fantastic charity cake sale to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity, and Griffin House’s chosen charity. 🧁✨

Thanks to everyone’s amazing support, we raised an incredible £151.50! 💙

To mark the occasion, we’ll be holding a charity bake sale at lunchtime to raise money for Mind, the mental health charity, and Griffins House Charity.

🧁 Delicious treats will be on sale at the Proud Table, priced between 50p and £1.

This week, our Year 7 students visited the incredible Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre for a day of space-themed learning and inspiration. From the immersive Star Dome experience to seeing the iconic Lovell Telescope up close, it was a fantastic day full of curiosity, discovery, and wonder! ✨🚀

Proud night for ICA PE & Sport!
We hosted the Y7 Rugby League competition on our brilliant grass pitches, welcoming schools from across the North West. ICA entered 3 teams — over 30 students represented the academy, with our black & white hoops winning all their games to take the title! 🏉🙌🏻
