it just seems so much worse if we factor in stuff like expenses with individual school districts, subscrip based office suite taking over, etc. on top of the general lack of care for teaching kids basic computer use (and with that internet safety)

YEAH THIS IS WHAT I WAS IMPLYING LIKE... idk if u've seen all the replies in this thread but when it gets to our younger mutuals there was absolutely a weird gap maybe starting in late 2000s early 2010s where i think computer was not rly taught the way it was before?? and the more i thought about it

and now i feel like a goof for forgetting most of it and taking it for granted (especially cuz my mom would always try to encourage me to do excel sheets too bc she's an accountant lol)

i have such vivid memories of being in computer class doing excel classwork and then when i finished early i would go on neopets XD but i'm starting to realize not everyone was taught it

if anything i love that everyone in some shape or form was self taught about so much shit because none of this was regulated and i cannot even imagine how bad it is now that i'm hearing kids don't really know how to use computers

IT OK it seems like it really was a case by case thing and the replies here made me realize how lucky some of us were to experience pooter at a young age and especially if it was before the big 2010s internet explosion... i need to reteach myself how to do an excel sheet
