I've swapped my true crime comfort reading/watching to true mountaineering disasters. I take great pleasure in seeing privileged men unaliving themselves with poor decision making, and underestimating nature. It's surprisingly uplifting.

My sister's 1.5m / 4'9 and got stretch marks from "growth". Didn't grow tall or wide, just suddenly had them. It's absolutely wild how we don't assume them by default!

I was procrastinating my switch to @eurosky.social, and I think this is it. CEO from the company that sold user data from WordPress and Tumblr to Midjourney and OpenAI? Yea, I'll take my data to Europe, thanks.

Alt: the "straight to jail" meme
and again and again and again and again and again
but hey, keep caring about that game you're not directing, the company you're not owning, how dare you not sacrifice your health and sanity and spare time, why are you so dispassionate about the ART we're CRAFTING here,...

See "they could've stretched EW into two expansions" 😅😅😅
How did the solo instance land for you? I love a good disempowerment fantasy in games 👀

Are those the same execs that talk about how markets are conquered by those willing to take calculated risks, to put in the effort, to look beyond what already exists and create something exciting? Absolutely! But anyway, let's copy yet another established title, bonus points if it's our own.

If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice

Started when I was 8, btw. If your faith is so weak you can't convince a literal child, or your story and understanding thereof so fragile it breaks when faced with the concept of "bones in a museum"... Sorry buddy, you're taking this fantasy story way too seriously.

Started with folks conflicting with facts (Earth being young, humans from day 6,...), but ended getting asked to leave the organisation where I voluntarily supervised kids of overwhelmed (cause they're in a mass-reproduction cult) parents.
My free labor didn't align enough with their teachings.

I was 8 when I got into an "argument" with the teacher for our First Communion course - about dinosaurs. What do you MEAN the Earth was created a few thousand years ago. The bones are older! He didn't have any good counters... against my 8 year old self. Sorry my dude, this wasn't the job for you!

From the KotakuInAction community on Reddit: Discussion: Voice actress of Malevoa, Alanah Pearce, tweeted complaints about her and the character being sexualized, but she swifted deleted it. Thoughts?
Explore this post and more from the KotakuInAction community
An interesting case study in how gullible the internet is. I haven’t posted anything on twitter in over a year and never will again (tweet is fake obviously). I also regularly sexualize Malevola myself and have openly said I’m completely okay with others doing so.

Just banger after banger for me. I even wish they had stretched it more (like, split EW into two expansions, to have multi-zone Garlemald for instance) to extend the mood.

Absolutely not normal, not by far, we're talking "0.1% of players have this achievement" not-normal. BUT I remember having this discourse a million years ago on the old site. And the reaction was similarly WHY, what is WRONG with you!
Sooo... neither normal by any standard, nor unique.

Evidence Grows That Google's AI Overviews Have Eviscerated the Media Industry
Google's AI overviews have eviscerated the media landscape, with some top publications losing up to 97 percent of their web traffic.
Welp. The internet had a nice run.
Some outlets have lost over 90% of their traffic since the "AI" summaries rolled out.
"...the four worst-hit publications [now] get less monthly web traffic combined than the r/ChatGPT subreddit gets on its own."

FFXIV's Endwalker turned the story into my favourite numbered entry in the series, I'm with you there!
The double whammy of Shadowbringers and EW is strong, but also requires, uh, how many hundred hours to experience? 😬

I see replies with hundreds of likes explaining different scientific definitions, and him going "yea, but, like, you can't prove it, can you" OVER AND OVER AGAIN, and, yea, it's that, or someone asking for his overriped potato brain to be mashed up. These people are SO fucking stupid.

really cute idea that riffs on the Criterion Closet but with video games: take a celebrity to a cramped game store and let them spill anecdotes youtu.be/rhvMRw3OPjY

Imho he starts off with a full tank of "I like this guy" purely because he's just Hal from Malcolm until, uh, yea, 10 minutes in.
There must be something about fish-out-of-water actors? I'm thinking Charlie Sheen, Leslie Nielsen, Liam Neeson as well? Drama actors in comedies, or vice versa?

Oh! I thought that was the case, but then I was told about "trapped birds" on tiles in my deck? Which I then... never saw, I think? I guess I didn't get something about the metaphor then.

That was lovely, thanks!
Minor UX issue I ran into: It took me waaay too long to notice that 1) captured birds are behind me, and 2) that's where I get rewards, and 3) in the middle of a "fight" - which I then realised is more of an act anyway.

In case you avoid Slay the Spire 2 because you don't wanna lose 1000 hours immediately, how about a StS-esque demo about birds?
Tho to be fair, if you play like me it's mostly about an awful sparrow setting everyone on fire, then blowing up repeatedly. But. Birds!

Absolutely, yea, definitely a time and place thing.
For me it was more the self-destruction leaving lingering problems for yourself and others, and how that ripples. That, and the fact it was the first story for me where you _had been_ the villain and now tried to fix things. (Hello KotOR.)

Planescape was one of mine for the longest time too, but I realized picking my 9 that Disco Elysium kinda took over its entire point. Still an incredibly fantastical world about broken people trying to find some sorta redemption, where your decisions twist reality into shape to an absurd degree.
