Myths Your Teacher Hated

I mean, fair. I just finished relistening to the Film Reroll podcast’s take on Wizard of Oz, and this is even more apropos for that version of Dorothy.

It’s such a frustrating feeling asking someone to repeat themselves and then having your brain finally catch up with what they said the first time halfway through repeating it.

Just finished Carry On. It’s a very gay rebuttal to HP and the magical boarding school trope. The world feels very lived in, referencing adventures we didn’t see but it feels like we did. If you’re a fan of queer fantasy, I highly recommend this one.

Just got out of Together. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but I enjoyed it. Solid performances, some very creepy visuals, and some unexpected scares. Worth checking out. Date night movie?

The most nerve-wracking part of the whole book process has to be waiting for a response to a query. I’m currently sitting at just over a month on this one, which is still within normal but it just makes me anxious. Is this the silence of interest or of being too busy to send a rejection?

This month’s book club book is Carry On, and I am devouring it. It’s a unique, interesting, queer take on the classic magic school trope. The first book picks up in the last year of school but feels like we’ve had a whole series of adventures. Highly recommended.

Seriously. I do math for a living, but electricity math always seemed fake. Made Physics 2 a real problem for me in college.

The first day back at work after vacation is always miserable, but at least I get to pick up my puppy from her vacation afterwards. Looking forward to seeing that crotchety ball of fluff.

Apart from the mythology podcast, I’m currently working on the query for a YA novel set in the Celtic cosmology (the fae, the Tuatha de Danann, etc)

The shows at Punk in the Park(ing lot) were amazing, even with the occasional rain. Saw lots of incredible bands and even got in the pit a few times (though I’m definitely getting too old).

Shower beer is a great way to kick off a vacation. Like the great sages say, you can drink all day unless you start in the morning. Looking forward to the punk festival tonight

I had to give up a shoe as collateral for the right to drink this, but it’s incredible. Starting off this punk festival at a haunted gay pirate tiki bar.

It may have taken 175 hours (I spent a lot of time in Tartarus), but Persona 3 Reload is done. Hell of a story.

This one got a lot of hate from AC purists, but it’s legitimately my favorite entry in the series. Sure, I’m a sucker for mythology, but I love how versatile the combat is. Sometimes I want to move with the shadows; others, I want to be a god of war.

I loved Kena, even if the bosses were sometimes absurd. I played this after beating Elden Ring and I’ll take those bosses over Kena’s any day. The rest of the game more than makes up for it though.

I mean, he can handle criticism but he’s getting pretty good
