Have to think Franklin was someone Jonathan Gannon and Bobby Babich identified as someone they wanted.
Packers are very good about coaches and front office communicating about this kind of stuff.
Babich used to be a LBs coach too.

Another thing to like about Franklin is he’s got that fuck you edge.
Packers need some more of that.
Zaire Franklin was not great last year, according to PFF he was straight up terrible, but this is exactly the kind of move I was talking about on @lockedonpackers.bsky.social this week: bring in some players so you aren’t FORCED anywhere in the draft.
Franklin as a backstop for $6M is fine
The edge defenders currently under contract with the Raiders
Jahfari Harvey
Charles Snowden
Brennan Jackson
I swear I didn't make any of those up.
Two firsts for soon-to-be 29-year-old Maxx Crosby, vs. two firsts and Kenny Clark (who the Packers were going to cut this week anyway) for 26-year-old Micah Parsons is a no-contest win for the Packers.
Crosby has never been in Parsons talks.
Rashan Gary isn't headed out of Green Bay yet, but a split is inevitable.

Quincy Williams is a name I'd be interested in from a Packers standpoint.
He flies around and plays with an edge. He wasn't good for the Jets in a new system last year, but was AWESOME in 2023.
Someone hacked my account and posted an elaborate heartfelt goodbye to my current team, instead of a phishing scam or cryptocurrency.

Former Packers LBs coach Mike Smith said he thought Rashan Gary was the best DE in his class the year Green Bay drafted him.
(Nick Bosa was in that class).
He was always Gary's biggest fan.
He coaches in New England now. Pats could use some size at Edge. Just saying.

Bob Harlan made the Packers viable again. He hired Ron Wolf and Ted Thompson.
He oversaw the rebirth of one of the NFL's proudest franchises.
We remember him on today's @lockedonpackers.bsky.social

It’s funny everyone thinks it’s so crazy a team would pay Malik Willis $30M off 3 starts.
After Jimmy G made 2 starts (and got hurt), there were major media people suggesting teams should trade multiple firsts for him!
And Willis played better in his games!!
With free agency looming, we are about to have a LOT of discussion about contractual and positional value.
There’s no worries on either with Micah Parsons who is worth more than most QBs in the league right now.

Charlie Kolar is an under-the-radar guy I’d love for the Packers.
They need a tight end that can block behind Tucker Kraft. He’s a nice complement to Luke Musgrave. Special teams player. Won’t be expensive.
Mentioned this today on @lockedonpackers.bsky.social but a lot of this offseason hinges on what the Packers already think of their DT room.
If they think Wyatt is a long-term piece then a NT is really the big need and unless you can find an elite pass rushing NT (rare) Day 3 draft is fine.
Brian Gutekunst can't afford to wait and hope the draft brings the reinforcements the #Packers need.
He has to go shopping now.

The Dolphins are going nowhere fast. They're going to have to pay De'Von Achane in the next year. Does it make sense for them to pay a RB with as bare as that roster is going to be?
What about Elgton Jenkins (to play guard) with a pick for one year of Achane?
Bobby Okereke has warts as a player. Still, if the Packers want an experienced "Mike" linebacker to take Quay Walker's spot without sacrificing a comp pick, he's a reasonable option.

Edgerrin Cooper rushed over 6% of his snaps last year.
That's down from 10% as a rookie.
Yes, Cooper was awesome as a blitzer, but Micah Parsons' virtuosic interior pass-rushing ability took precedence. Did they get too cute with that?
We expect the #Packers to move on from Elgton Jenkins this offseason, but with OL already getting traded, Brian Gutekunst should be on the horn trying to move their veteran OL rather than simply cutting him.

It's interesting because Todd McShay said some teams see Lee Hunter as iDL in this class (before the combine), while Dane Brugler has Hunter 60th.
After a tough showing at the combine, I wonder if his value settles closer to where the Packers pick in R2
This has been something I have criticized Ted Thompson for in the past. He’s cut some veterans with name PR and pedigree who ended up signing real deals after being released.
I find it hard to believe the Packers couldn’t get some value for them.
Elgton Jenkins is way better than the guys who just got traded.
If the Packers are going to cut him anyway, I’d be on the phone to Cleveland, New England, Houston and LA.
There's a LOT to talk about around the #Packers right now.
Today for @theleap.bsky.social , I grabbed three of the biggest post-Combine storylines to dig into incudling a cowardly group of CBs (joking)
www.theleap.football/p/three-impo...
We had so much to talk about on today's @lockedonpackers.bsky.social we had to push Mock Draft Monday!
On Cam Achord, the weekend combine standouts, and the future of the RB position with Emanuel Wilson likely headed out the door

Fascinated by the Devin Bush market. Former high pick on his third team. Was trending toward mega-bust territory, but then had the best year of his career in Cleveland.
If he’s going to get 8-12 million, I’d be in for that. 15+ would make me very nervous.
